BOSTON (AP) — A Boston veterinary hospital got quite a surprise recently when a family brought in their bulldog after he stopped eating.The Angell Animal Medical Center found 19 baby pacifiers in the dog's stomach.It started in April when the Wellesley family noticed that their 3-year-old dog, Mortimer, started getting nauseous before meals. His owner, Emily Shanahan, brought Mortimer to the vet, who prescribed medicine to take care of the issue.But it didn't help and Mortimer eventually stopped eating entirely.Shanahan went to Angell, where they took an X-ray and discovered the pacifiers.Vets think Mortimer had been taking the pacifiers from Shanahan's two children over the course of months.The pacifiers were removed using a medical scope that did not require surgery. BROWNSBURG, Ind. -- Deputy Jacob Pickett of the Boone County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed in the line of duty last week after a shootout with a suspect during a car chase.Pickett is survived by not only his two young boys and wife, but by his K-9 partner, Brik, who was by his side on the day he was fatally shot.Brik honored his fallen partner at his funeral by stopping, alone, in front of Deputy Pickett's casket. And as a dog would, he wagged his tail, as a final salute to a man with which he had an unbreakable bond.Brik followed a K-9-only procession, going by Deputy Pickett's casket to pay their last respects for a fall comrade.You can watch video of the service in the player above.   731

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A protester who was knocked down by police in Buffalo earlier this month suffered a fractured skull and has been unable to walk, his attorney said Saturday.Kelly V. Zarcone says she was able to have a brief conversation with her client, 75-year-old Martin Gugino, before he said he needed to rest.According to Zarcone, Gugino is appreciative of those concerned about him, but he is still focused on social issues rather than himself.In a statement to CNN last Wednesday Zarcone said Gugino would be moved to a rehabilitation floor of the hospital and is expected to be released within two weeks.In an additional statement Thursday, Zarcone said Gugino is beginning physical therapy."As heartbreaking as it is, his brain is injured and he is well aware of that now," she said. BORDEN, Ind. — A plane crashed Friday morning in southern Indiana, killing multiple people. According to WHAS, the ABC affiliate in Louisville, the crash happened in Borden, Indiana at about 11:30 a.m., in the 2600 block of Crone Road. The plane that crashed could hold about 10 passengers, Clark County Sheriff Jamie Noel said. No survivors have been located at this time, Noel said. The sheriff's office said there were multiple fatalities, WHAS reported.He said it was very difficult to access the scene of the crash due to it being in a wooded area.  582
