A firefighter who died on September 11 was laid to rest Tuesday after his remains were identified 18 years later.Firefighters and loved ones gathered to mourn Michael Haub after his remains were conclusively identified, the Uniformed Firefighters Association said in a statement. It said the service was to provide his family with closure and a peace of mind after the medical examiner last week identified more of his remains that were recovered at Ground Zero.As of July this year, the remains of only about 60% of the 2,753 people killed at the World Trade Center that day have been positively identified, according to the medical examiner's office.Haub was a 13-year veteran of Ladder Company 4, according to the association."We remember him and the 342 other firefighters who perished that fateful day, and will be forever grateful for the courage they show," it said in a statement Tuesday.In addition to the firefighters killed that day, hundreds more have died in the following years. From social distancing markers on the floor to hand sanitizer at the door ,this is the new norm for hotels operating during a pandemic. “It’s been very difficult in hospitality with COVID-19,” said Sarah Treadway, president and co-CEO of Stout Street Hospitality and Magnolia Hotels, a hospitality company with hotels across the country which had to lay off 95% of its employees during the COVID-19 crisis. “Many of our employees have worked for us for more than 30 years,” Treadway said. “So, it’s been devastating.” It’s devastating both emotionally and financially as coronavirus concerns have closed down thousands of hotels around the world. “A lot of people are feeling a lot of pain,” said Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Rogers says about two thirds of all hotels have laid off at least half of their workers. He added that many hotels that closed due to COVID-19 might never reopen. “In fact, the experts say the industry will not fully recover until 2023,” Rogers said. While he was in the bathroom, the plane's smoke alarm went off.When a deputy met the plane at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the unidentified passenger denied smoking in the restroom, according to the report. He told a deputy he didn't know smoking was prohibited on flights.The passenger was not arrested but he may never again fly with Spirit: The deputy's report said the company banned him for life."It's a private business that can ban customers at their own leisure," Rivarde said."It's like telling you not to come back to the restaurant.
