(KGTV) — A lack of rainfall this winter in Southern California could spare rural towns known for their "superbloom" springs from throngs of visitors.Riverside County parks official Dustin McLain told The Press-Enterprise that the chances of a "superbloom" in the Walker Canyon area are small after a dry January and February thus far.Last March, thousands of people overwhelmed parts of East County and rural Southern California communities to see how showers brought spring flowers."The Super Bloom has been unlike any event we have ever experienced before," Lake Elsinore Mayor Steve Manos said last year. "The extreme beauty of our hillsides that drew attention from around the world is now diminishing quickly, and our residents sure are eager for things to get back to normal."The season was highlighted by beautiful photos of flowers, but marred with reports of tourists destroying foliage and trails and clogging roadways to see the spectacle. LAS VEGAS — The world's largest consumer electronic show, CES, has canceled the in-person portion of its 2021 convention.The annual convention brings more than 150,000 people and hundreds of millions of dollars to Las Vegas every year.The organizers of CES had announced in early June that it was planning to hold an in-person event with numerous restrictions and precautions.Several people who attended the 2020 CES in Las Vegas told Scripps station KTNV that they believe they contracted COVID-19 at the convention, which was held between Jan. 7 and Jan. 10.Although the "CES flu" has been common for many years, attendees described feeling far worse than in past years. LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A hospital parking lot isn’t the typical place for a family reunion, but after 69 days in the hospital, it was the perfect place for the Rael family to gather to celebrate the fact that Wanda Vigil is now going home.Wanda spend 69 days at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood battling COVID-19 — 42 of them on a ventilator.“She’s a fighter. We were told 20 days in she probably wasn’t going to make it,” brother Alan Rael said.Alan and about two dozen family members gathered in the parking lot of St. Anthony’s on Thursday as Wanda was discharged from the hospital.“It’s a beautiful thing. It’s miraculous,” sister Linda Deborah Sanchez said.Hospital workers lined the lobby in a socially distanced fashion to clap and cheer as Wanda was wheeled out. Her family was waiting outside with signs and hugs.“I am so grateful,” Wanda said.She still has a damaged vocal cord, meaning she can only whisper, and her family acknowledged that she had plenty of recovery still to go.“She still has a journey ahead of her, but she’s alive,” Sanchez said.“My heart is so happy. (KGTV)— A La Mesa woman, who was the victim of a recent burglary, is opening up to 10News about her frightening experience. 10News met the woman at her home, in a quiet, secluded neighborhood in La Mesa. In the last four years she and her family have lived in the house, they have always felt safe. Until last Saturday. “To see the figure of a stranger in your home is an absolute worst nightmare,” the woman said. La Mesa Police said at around 11 pm, an intruder came through the side entrance, opened her gate, and walked into the home through the sliding door. That is when the homeowner heard a thump.“I have a three-year-old son, and looked at the monitor, and made sure it wasn’t him.
