MENTOR, Ohio — A simple box that might look more at home in an apartment building is what the U.S. Postal Service says is the future of daily mail delivery. "We've gone to all Cluster Box Units, at the request of the U.S. Postal Service," said Sommers Real Estate President Rick Sommers. He says every new development that real estate groups like his build have the simply boxed called Cluster Boxes. The Postal Service says they cut down on the cost of individual boxes, locked boxes keep sensitive mail safe and make delivery a one-stop shop. "Obviously the post office truck doesn't have to stop at every house, blocking traffic," said Sommers.It's a trend that could help with some mail delivery concerns we told you about in the past. Residents near Akron were concerned with inconsistent delivery and letters going to their neighbors' homes.Sommers says this new way is going to be even more common in Northeast Ohio as the housing market continues to climb."There weren't any lots developed from about 2005 to about 2011, so there was a pent-up demand for new lots now that the housing market is back and strong," said Sommers.The Postal Service says the boxes could foster a stronger sense of community, almost like a new water cooler. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville, Kentucky, has banned the use of controversial "no-knock" warrants and named the new ordinance for Breonna Taylor.Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville officers who burst into her home in March. Her death, along with the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, have sparked a largely peaceful protest movement across the country, calling for significant changes in policing and an end to systemic racism.Louisville Metro Council unanimously voted Thursday night to ban the controversial warrants after days of protests and calls for reform. According to NPR, the law also requires police to wear body cameras when serving warrants and turn them on five minutes before entering a person's home.Taylor was killed on March 13 when police served a no-knock warrant on her home as part of a narcotics investigation. Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired at police, thinking they were intruders. Police returned fire and shot Taylor dead.No drugs were found at her home. No charges have been filed in connection to Taylor's death.Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, said the new law will save lives.Kentucky Sen. Microsoft took legal steps to dismantle a system that has allowed criminal hackers to infect more than a million computing devices since 2016, in order to protect the 2020 election.The technology company obtained a court order from a federal judge in Virginia that gives Microsoft control of the Trickbot botnet.Microsoft, along with partners around the world, were able to make it so those operating Trickbot cannot initiate new infections or activate ransomware already in computer systems.Trickbot botnet is a global network believed to be run by Russian-speaking criminals, and is “one of the world’s most infamous botnets and prolific distributors of ransomware” according to a blog post by Tom Burt, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft.Burt says ransomware is “one of the largest threats to the upcoming elections,” and can be used to “infect a computer system used to maintain voter rolls or report on election-night results, seizing those systems at a prescribed hour optimised to sow chaos and distrust.”The move by Microsoft represents a “new legal approach” the company says they are using for the first time.In addition to protecting election systems, Microsoft says dismantling Trickbot will also protect financial services institutions, government agencies, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other businesses subject to malware infections. 1382
