This year marks not only the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China but also the establishment of the CPPCC.     The book consists of 142 important documents which are divided into three volumes. Some documents are being made public for the first time. WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will visit China in mid-November in a four-nation Asia trip from Nov. 12 to 19 which will also take him to Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea, the White House said on Wednesday.     Obama is due to be in Japan on Nov. 12-13. Following his visit to Tokyo, Obama will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Singapore before heading to China and South Korea, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. YAN'AN, Shaanxi Province, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Party cadres should always keep clean and stay away from corruption, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official said Saturday.     "Party cadres should withstand tests of the country's reform and opening-up and the Party's ruling status," said Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.     Li, also a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks as the Autumn term started Saturday in China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP), China Executive Leadership Academy Jinggangshan (CELAJ) and China Executive Leadership Academy Yan'an (CELAY).     "As Party cadres are being surrounded with more and more temptations, the education on resistance against corruption must be a vital task as well as the core content of Party spirit training," Li said.     The three schools, approved by the CPC Central Committee, are national training bases in fields such as CPC history and Party building theory, for government officials, enterprise managers and army officials.     "Schools should make it an important mission during education and training to strengthen Party spirit, ideal faith and good style, so as to play a unique role in promoting Party cadres' uprightness," he said.

BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Uygur farmer Hashim Dawut felt quite touched as he was guided into Premier Wen Jiabao's office at the Zhongnanhai leadership compound in downtown Beijing on Monday.     The 57-year-old man had been looking forward to the moment for more than five years. Premier Wen met Hashim Dawut for the first time in his village in Bachu county of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on March 28, 2003, when Wen was inspecting and directing relief work after an earthquake measuring 6.8 jolted Bachu and Jiashi counties, killing268 people on Feb. 24 that year. "And it was heartrending to see our people losing lives and properties in the riots."     "All of us felt grieved, and the bad guys were not willing to see the fact that we are living a happy life," Hashim Dawut responded.     "In Xinjiang, Uygurs and Hans are inseparable, and all the ethnic groups are inseparable, because we are a family," Wen said.     "And we should cherish the stability and development which did not come easy," he added.     "I will bring your words home," said Hashim Dawut. 

BEIJING, Aug. 5 -- Chinese steel mills would prefer to import more iron ore from Brazil rather than Australia after the detention of four Shanghai-based employees of multinational miner Rio Tinto on charges of commercial espionage, according to data specialist ASXMarine. Spot iron ore vessel bookings from Brazil to China surged to a record 39 in July, from 24 in the previous month, Reuters quoted the data from ASXMarine.     Vessel bookings from Australia's main iron ore ports to China dropped to 31, down from 40 compared to the previous month and the lowest reading since February after the Rio Tinto scandal. But the exact figures would be available only in September as shipments from Brazil and Australia would be delayed by one or two months.     China's main ports received 56.5 million tons of iron ore in July, up 35 percent from the same period last year, the Ministry of Transport said yesterday.     Iron ore imports rose 29.3 percent year on year, to 297 million tons, in the first half of this year, while traders imported 131 million tons, up 90.4 percent from last year.     The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) said last Friday that excess iron ore imports had distorted the demand-supply situation and hampered its position at negotiations with global miners on new long-term benchmark prices.     It also said foreign iron ore suppliers promoted massive selling on the cash market, leading to huge stockpiles and urged to limit import licenses.     However, the iron ore import figures in July reflected orders in May as it takes more than a month to deliver ore from Australia and Brazil, said Zang from Rizhao port.     Chinese steel mills started to reduce orders ever since CISA rejected the 33-percent cut offered by miners in May and held out for more discount, he said.     China News Service reported yesterday that CISA halted talks because iron ore spot prices have been "seriously distorted", citing a statement issued by the association.     However, no such statement could be found on the association's website, and its official surnamed Wang said the report was not true and talks were ongoing.
