The new romaine lettuce recall is causing many to change up their Thanksgiving Day menus.A popular vegan restaurant and catering company, Pianta, is one place affected by the recall.“We use romaine every day,” says restaurant owner Michael Moon. “We use about two to three cases of romaine every week, so it's pretty significant.”The restaurant has thrown out all of its romaine lettuce.“Essentially, we're just throwing away money,” Moon says.However, Pianta’s owner says it’s only a small cost to pay for the safety of his customers.“We don't want to be associated with some sort of outbreak here as a plant-based restaurant. The police officer who handcuffed and arrested a nurse for refusing to go against the hospital's policy on drawing blood said through an attorney that he would like to personally apologize for the incident, KUTV reported. Detective Jeff Payne faced criticism for the way he handled an incident in July where he requested hospital employees to draw blood from an unconscious driver who had just been in an accident without that driver's permission or a warrant. The hospital, citing legal precedent, has a policy of not drawing blood without permission or a court-ordered warrant. When nurse Alex Wubbels refused to draw blood, she was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser. "Jeff would love the chance to sit down and apologize for what happened here," attorney Greg Skordas told KUTV. "If he could do this over he would do it over differently."Payne, along with another officer, were placed on administrative leave by the Salt Lake City Police Department after video of the incident went viral. The Oklahoma teacher walkout is ending after nine days, Oklahoma Education Association President Alicia Priest said Thursday.After getting 9 million in funding for the next school year, the OEA decided to end the walkout, Priest said in a news conference, though the funding falls short of what they'd hoped to achieve."We need to face reality," Priest told reporters. "Despite tens of thousands of people filling the Capitol and spilling out onto the grounds of this Capitol for nine days, we have seen no significant legislative movement since last Friday."Priest said the OEA had been in negotiations with lawmakers in both the Oklahoma House and Senate, but it became clear that "Senate Republicans won't budge an inch on any more revenue for public education."The OEA had been polling its members throughout the walkout, and Priest said that by Thursday, 70% of respondents indicated they were unsure of continuing the walkout.Priest claimed Oklahoma teachers had secured a "victory."
