A Chandler mother is accused of punching and biting her preschool-aged daughter. Chandler police report that on July 31 they arrested 31-year-old Enricka Rena Johnson. Police say Johnson abused her 5-year-old daughter at their home near Arizona Avenue and Pecos Road. Investigators allege that Johnson became angry because the child would not brush her hair. She reportedly punched the girl in the eye and bit her on the arm. A medical exam noted several other injuries including a brain bleed and a broken lower leg with scarring. Johnson allegedly told police that she bit the child on the arm, hand, and shoulder. She also said, "I hit her hard, I hit her a lot."She reportedly told police that the girl broke her leg about two to four months ago, but instead of getting medical attention she taped the leg for support. The leg swelled causing the scarring. Police say they also found meth in Johnson's possession. She has been charged with child abuse.I 1005

A man assaulted his elderly father when he came home from work and found that dinner wasn't ready, police in Pennsylvania claim.Frank Steinetz, 50, of Taylor, Pennsylvania, repeatedly punched his 83-year-old dad in the head and face on Monday night, according to Scranton's Times-Tribune.The newspaper reported that when Steinetz came home at 5:45 p.m. he got mad because his father had not prepared a meal for him.A neighbor called police after hearing screaming from Steinetz's house. The neighbor told officers he could hear Steinetz asking, "Oh, does that hurt?" along with what sounded like a physical assault.Steinetz's father, who was described as "extremely frail" by police, had bruises on his face, arms and leg after the incident, according to the Associated Press."He beat me up," the 83-year-old victim told police, according to The Times-Tribune.Steinetz was arrested on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. A joint statement released by federal and state officials on Thursday described last week’s presidential election as the “most secure in American history” despite calls from President Donald Trump’s campaign that the election was “stolen.”The letter was signed by leaders of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and the National Association of State Election Directors, among others. The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency was established two years ago as a branch of Homeland Security during the Trump administration.In bold, the authors of the statement wrote, “There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.” This statement matches those from secretaries of state and boards of election throughout the US.“The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history,” the statement reads. “Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result.”The group says that claims of election fraud are “unfounded.”“While we know there are many unfounded claims and opportunities for misinformation about the process of our elections, we can assure you we have the utmost confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should too,” the statement read. “When you have questions, turn to elections officials as trusted voices as they administer elections.”Earlier this week, CNN among other outlets, reported that the Department of Justice, under Attorney General Bill Barr’s direction, was launching an investigation into voting irregularities. A cyber security company is concerned with Amazon’s upcoming Prime Day shopping event.Check Point Research found a significant increase in the number of website domains registered using the words “Amazon” and “Prime.” More than a quarter are considered malicious, and one in ten suspicious.“The user may not realize it’s a fake website, because hackers usually do a really good job of imitating the look and feel of the website they're trying to come off as,” said Maya Levine, security expert at Check Point.Check Point says look for the little "lock" icon next to a website's address and also check for the additional letter “s” after “http.” Those both indicate a reliable site.“This is just something that is making the website a little more secure, so if you're seeing http without the s, that means you're missing that added layer of encryption, that added layer of security,” said Levine.Don't overshare online. You should never have to enter your birthday or social security number to buy something. You should also avoid public Wi-Fi when shopping and reset your Amazon password before you shop Prime Day sales.“If your password for one account got leaked and it’s the same one as your Amazon account, a hacker can take that and test it out,” said Levine.Also be leery of emails or texts about Amazon Prime Day or any events in general.
