BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- China's official Xinhua News Agency on Saturday formally launched its financial information exchange, an information sharing platform in the financial and cultural sectors to promote development of the nation's capital market.Approved by the People's Bank of China, or the central bank, it is the world's first financial information exchange.It is funded by and registered with the China Finance Corporation (CFC), owned by Xinhua.Located in the Lize business district in the southwest of downtown Beijing, the exchange has the world's largest LCD panel groups at 7,593 inches, which show real-time information in the finance and cultural industries.Member users can also get the latest information on technology transfers and business consultations.The exchange would improve Xinhua's presence and influence in the global financial information sector and enhance China's soft power in the international capital markets, said Xinhua president Li Congjun at the inauguration ceremony."It aims to be a fair, just, professional and highly efficient intermediary service platform in the financial information and cultural sectors to promote information sharing among the cultural sector, industries and the capital markets," he said."The ultimate goal is to become the world's most influential financial information and cultural industry service center."

BEIJING, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's health care reform funds - 850 billion yuan (126 billion U.S. dollars) over three years - were mainly used to build a basic medical insurance system for urban and rural residents, said Minister of Finance Xie Xuren Friday.Xie made the remarks at the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), a bimonthly session that began Dec. 20 and will end Dec. 25.The government in April 2009 unveiled a 850 billion yuan three-year plan for national health care reform.With the funds, the government promised universal access to basic health insurance, the introduction of an essential drugs system, improved primary health care facilities, equitable access to basic public health services and a pilot reforms for state-run hospitals.Chinese lawmakers attend a meeting of the 18th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 24, 2010. BEIJING, Dec.25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese vice premier Li Keqiang said that China's tax officials should continue to promote reform in the tax system and improve services to contribute to the country's economic development and social harmony.Li made the remarks in a written instruction to a recently-held national conference on taxation, which coordinated next year's working plans for the tax administration system.Li called on tax officials to further enact structural tax reductions, promote tax reforms, strengthen tax collections and management and improve services for taxpayers.Chinese tax officials should work to allow taxation to play a more important role in the transformation of economic development patterns, adjust income distribution and improve people's livelihoods, Li said.
