SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of Kiera Bergman says a recent development in her murder case has left them frustrated and fearful. The 19-year-old woman was missing for weeks before her body was discovered in the desert outside of Phoenix last year. Bergman's boyfriend, Jon Clark, was charged in the murder; but this month, a judge lowered his bond from million to 0,000. RELATED: Friends and family celebrate the life of Kiera Bergman"I fear for my family, I fear for her roommate and any other girls out there that he could have the opportunity to start manipulating," said Kiersten Bragg, Bergman's mother. According to CBS 5 Phoenix, Clark's lawyers argued there's new evidence that might clear him in his trial. They also say that in original court paperwork, police detectives made comments that didn't add up. If Clark does bail out, he'll have to wear an ankle monitor. RELATED: Court documents: Kiera Bergman may have been pregnant at time of her death"I just yeah, I broke down and lost it, called my husband and let him know," said Bragg. She's frustrated Clark could potential go home and be somewhat comfortable, while her daughter will never get that chance again. Previous court documents reveal suspicious text messages and Wi-fi records as some of the evidence police used to arrest Clark. Documents also showed a history of domestic disputes.RELATED: Kiera Bergman case: Charges filed against ex-boyfriend in death of El Cajon womanClark's trial is scheduled for early next year but has already been postponed several times.10News reached out to Clark's attorneys but did not hear back. 1618

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Christ United Methodist Church's Safe Harbors Network needs help to prepare for the next wave of migrants approaching the US-Mexico border. The network, started in 2016, provides basic necessities for refugees, such as a bed, shower, food, clothes, medical care and legal aide, until their court date."They don't have anything, they have the clothes they're wearing, they don't have phones, they don't have money, they would be homeless, so we take them in," Volunteer Kathryn LaPointe said. In 2016 the majority of their refugees were Haitian, over the past several months they're mostly women and children from Central America."We're taking in between 20 and 30 a night the past few days, most of them were able to send to their families, but I would like to help more people," LaPointe said.Sunday, LaPointe said they're at capacity and need all the help they can get. "Every person that walks in front of me, I ask for a building," she said laughing, "can you please get me a building."The network is comprised of individuals, congregations and organizations who care for refugees. "[Provide] basic human kindness, and," LaPointe said as she sighed heavily, "I am so grateful to be able to do that to extend that kindness and I would like to extend that kindness to more people." 1347

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The man who jumped on stage during a Taylor Swift concert and assaulted a security guard was charged Monday with a deadly beating in the Midway area, police said. Christian Ewing, 29, was charged for the death of 57-year-old Gregory Freeman, according to SDPD Homicide Lt. Anthony Dupree. He died three days later of his injuries. The suspect fled the scene, police said.Ewing was arrested on Dec. 21 for a parole violation and rebooked Monday on suspicion of murder. In 2015, Ewing jumped on stage at Petco Park as Taylor Swift was performing. Swift’s personal security guard, David Durkin, told Ewing he was not allowed to be in the area. During a struggle, Ewing seriously injured Durkin. RELATED: Taylor Swift concert crasher ruled mentally fit to stand trialWhen asked why he went up on stage, Ewing replied, "I love that girl," San Diego Police Officer John Clayton testified.Ewing pleaded guilty to assault and violently resisting an officer in the performance of his duties. He was sentenced to two years' probation, and was expected to be supervised by the Probation Department's mentally-ill offender unit. Prosecutors previously said Ewing had several arrests in multiple states, an active warrant for a theft-related offense out of Florida, and a felony conviction for transporting drugs from out-of-state. Dupree said both Ewing and Freeman were homeless.Ewing’s arraignment on the murder charge is scheduled for Dec. 27. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The King family, who launched "Chelsea's Light" after the rape and murder of their daughter Chelsea in 2009, has decided to end the popular "Finish Chelsea's Run" event after eight years. In an interview with 10News from the family's home near Chicago, Chelsea's father, Brent, said they are proud of the impact they have been able to have through "Finish Chelsea's Run," but that it was time to move on from the event."Our family wants to thank everybody that has ever come out to run in our race. It's spectacular. It's beautiful. It brings us a lot of joy. But at the same time, it reminds us how we lost our little girl," King said.Chelsea was a 17-year-old student at Poway High in 2010 when she went for a run at Rancho Bernardo Community Park. A registered sex offender, John Gardner, later pleaded guilty to dragging King into a secluded area near Lake Hodges, raping her, and strangling her to death. He buried the body nearby.Shortly after his arrest, Gardner also admitted to the murder of an Escondido teen, Amber DuBois, who had disappeared a year earlier. The King family began the "Chelsea's Light" Foundation, through which it carried out "Finish Chelsea's Run" and a companion baseball tournament. King says "Chelsea's Light" will continue to exist and raise money. However, he has launched a new nationwide organization called "Protect the Joy."King says he will use the experience he gained helping pass "Chelsea's Law" legislation in several states to protect youth from sex offenders to help build a bigger, stronger organization dedicated to issues of defending children."I've built an organization that mirrors the Sierra Club, or the Surfrider Foundation, or Greenpeace. But instead of protecting the trees, or the coastline, or the whales, I'm going to protect our children," King said. For more information on King's new organization, visit the website: ProtecttheJoy.org. 1952
