SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents may be seeing Uber delivery drones in San Diego's skies as soon as this year.Uber Elevate, Uber's drone and air transportation leg, announced this week during the Forbes’ 30 under 30 Summit that the company will begin testing Uber Eats delivery drones in summer 2020. The company added, though, that delivery service using partner drone operators could come in the coming months.A rendering of the Uber Eats drone shows six-rotors will allow the drone to take off and land vertically, with the ability to rotate to provide more lift and speed. The drone is designed to carry a meal for two people.Uber Elevate says the drone is designed to travel a total of 18 miles or 12 miles round-trip. The company says the drone is equipped to cruise below 400 feet and comply with existing regulations to operate the aircraft.The company estimates the drone can perform a delivery in eight minutes, including time to load and unload.The company says the design has passed the design review phase and is expected to fly before the end of the year. 1073

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County started the rainfall season in October bone dry, but now the region is getting ready for another storm in time for Thanksgiving.San Diego's weekend will be great, cooling down on Monday before the storm arrives. Winds will pick up on Tuesday. Then, the surf will increase along the coast before the Thanksgiving storm arrives.The atmospheric river will potentially set up the stage for heavy rain, flash flooding, and thunderstorms during the major winter storm. Rainfall totals could average from 3-5 inches for the coast and valleys and 4-8 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will start out high around 8,000 feet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police announced Thursday the arrest of a mother accused of driving her SUV the wrong way in Rancho Bernardo, causing a head-on crash that injured her children and an innocent driver.Mayra Gonzalez, 29, was drunk when she drove her Chevy Suburban east in the westbound lanes of Camino del Norte west of Interstate 15 Monday morning, police said.The Suburban hit a Jeep Liberty, seriously injuring the 57-year-old man in the Jeep.Gonzalez’ three children were in the car at the time of the crash. Her 8-year-old and 2-year-old daughters had minor injuries but her 9-month-old daughter, who was unrestrained, suffered life-threatening injuries.
