Gunshots rang out at a birthday party on Detroit's east side injuring multiple people.Police said at least three people were shot at during the party, and a fourth victim was hit down the street.Investigators say it happened around 11:20 p.m. Sunday at a home.Police say the victims are a 27-year-old woman shot in the face, a 32-year-old woman shot in the leg and a 40-year-old man shot also shot in the leg.  All three told police they were at a birthday party when two men started shooting.The fourth victim, a 31-year-old man down the street, says he was walking when two men walked up to him and shot him in the backside and ran away.That man says he hopped on one leg to his home where he called police.Police do not have a description of the suspects, they only know they are looking for two armed men.All of the victims are listed in temporary serious condition at Detroit Receiving Hospital.  924

HONG KONG — Hong Kong Disneyland Park is closing temporarily following the city’s decision to ban public gatherings of more than four people because of the coronavirus pandemic. Disney officials posted on the resort’s website that the Hong Kong park was closing Wednesday until further notice. The resort’s hotels will remain open with adjusted levels of service. Hong Kong’s leader, Carrie Lam, announced new coronavirus-related restrictions Monday and she urged the private sector to put in place work-from-home arrangements for employees. Health care worker Amanda Solt is one of the lucky COVID-19 patients who survived the disease.“I remember them pulling my arms up over my head, under my pillow and then they took the pillow, and that's the last thing I remember,” said Solt.She was in the hospital and ICU for weeks back in June. It wasn't until she received a convalescent plasma donation that she started to turn a corner.“They helped me hold the phone up to my ear, so I could give a verbal consent. To help me sit me up in the bed, literally, they were holding me and helping me sign the paper, so I could give consent. And I just remember the nurses were like, ‘say yes.’ Yes, I remember that and honestly, I feel like I owe my life to them and to the person who donated for sure.”The nurses helped Solt take a picture the moment she got the plasma. She says it saved her life and now she's advocating for others to donate.Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar also pushed for donations Wednesday during a briefing on vaccines. HHS is increasingly concerned about supply with rising cases.Plasma is given to hospitalized patients earlier now.People with COVID antibodies can donate plasma as often as every seven days for up to three months. Just one donation can help up to four people.“You have the chance to truly, truly make a difference in life or death for somebody,” said Solt.The American Red Cross saw their distributions of convalescent plasma increase 250% in November compared to September. General Motors recently announced that it would be shutting down five car factories in the United States and Canada and cutting 14,000 jobs. GM said at the time that factory workers would be offered jobs at other facilities where production is being increased and on Friday it offered an update on how things are going.Of the jobs GM plans to cut, 2,800 are hourly employees in the United States. These are generally assembly line workers who punch in and out for work each day as opposed to employees who are paid a salary.The automaker announced Friday that 1,100 of those hourly workers have volunteered to transfer to jobs at other factories, such as GM's Flint, Michigan, truck plant where heavy duty pickups are built and the Toledo transmission plant in Toledo, Ohio. Another 1,200 workers in that group are eligible for retirement, the company said.The US plants GM is shutting down are in Michigan, Ohio, and Maryland. These plants mostly made sedans, which have fallen out of favor as customers have shifted toward crossover SUVs and trucks.GM also said last month that Canadian workers would be offered jobs at other plants in that country.In total, the company announced it would cut 6,000 hourly and 8,000 salaried positions. In October, the company offered voluntary buyouts to 18,000 workers.GM CEO Mary Barra has said she wants to save money and reposition the company for future investments in autonomous driving technology and electric cars.
