NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. health officials on Friday told people to avoid romaine lettuce grown in Salinas, California, because of another food poisoning outbreak.The notice comes almost exactly one year after a similar outbreak led to a blanket warning about romaine.Officials urged Americans not to eat the leafy green if the label doesn’t say where it was grown. The video has more than 150,000 views.But the owner of the restaurant where the incident took place said the video doesn't tell the whole story. “The lady in the video he actually did hit. She had blood on her face, she was bleeding," said Jane Thursfield, owner of Cactus Jack. Thursfield said Ortega provoked the fight when he punched Marcinkowski in the face after he was let go by the restaurant. Scripps station WFTX in Fort Myers could see no evidence of blood on Marcinkowski's face in the Facebook video. The owner said even if Marcinkowski was provoked, the racial comments were not OK. “No, no, of course not," Thursfield said. "No, we don’t condone that at all.”Other customers, like Johnny Samz, who said he regularly eats at Cactus Jack, agreed. “I don’t think it’s ever good, for anybody to use the N-word," said Samz. "I don’t care what the circumstances are.” WFTX's Jasmine Minor asked since Ortego no longer worked at the restaurant, if Marcinkowski would face the same fate. “She is still working here, yeah," said Thursfield. Independent bookstores have also persisted in the face of digital publishing.The company said in October that it might put itself up for sale after it was approached by a number of potential buyers, including founder Leonard Riggio who opened Barnes & Noble stores across the country and turned it into a superstore.Barnes & Noble said Friday that it's being acquired by Elliott Management for .50 per share, an approximately 9% percent premium to the company's Thursday closing stock price. NEW YORK — New York’s attorney general has sent a subpoena to the Trump Organization for records related to consulting fees paid to Ivanka Trump as part of an investigation into the president’s business dealings. That's according to a law enforcement official who spoke to The Associated Press Thursday on condition of anonymity. The New York Times reported that a similar subpoena was sent to President Donald Trump’s company by the Manhattan district attorney, who is conducting a parallel probe. The records requests followed recent reporting in The Times, based partly on two decades’ worth of Trump’s tax filings, that the president had reduced his company’s income tax liability over several years by deducting million in consulting fees as a business expense.Records strongly suggested, The Times reported, that 7,622 of those fees had been paid to Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter, through a company she owned at a time when she was also a Trump Organization executive.If true, that wouldn’t necessarily pose a problem for Ivanka Trump herself, as long as she paid income tax on the consulting payments, which she reported publicly.It could, however, raise questions about whether the Trump Organization’s related tax deductions were allowable. They say such a strategy could systematically check more people for infections and spot surges before they take off. The health experts say it would be an improvement from the current practice.
