Sanders’ comments came days after the Washington Post reported that U.S. intelligence services notified the Sanders campaign that the Russian government was attempting to interfere in the Democratic nomination process in Sanders’ favor. Sam Johnson, a onetime prisoner of war in Vietnam and Republican Texas congressman who was the U.S. House's oldest member when he stepped down in 2019 at age 88, has died. He was 89.His former spokesman, Ray Sullivan, said Johnson died at a Plano hospital of natural causes unrelated to the coronavirus. Johnson was flying a bombing mission in 1966 when he was shot down and wounded.He was imprisoned in the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" for nearly seven years, much of it in solitary confinement. Prosecutors say California attorney Michael Avenatti has been rearrested for alleged bail violations. Prosecutors in New York late Tuesday notified a judge that federal authorities in Los Angeles have notified them that Avenatti was arrested in California for alleged violations of the conditions of his pretrial release. Avenatti is scheduled for trial next week in Manhattan federal court. That trial pertains to allegations that he extorted Nike for up to million. He has pleaded not guilty.
