The allegations surfaced during Scipioni's divorce proceedings, the Daily News reported. The Daily News reported that Scipioni and the student developed a relationship during the 2003-04 school year, but it did not turn sexual until student's graduation. The relationship ceased when she went off to college at the end of the summer. The district then fired Scipioni in October 2014 when it confirmed the relationship between Scipioni and the student. Scipioni then challenged the district in court, with an arbitrator’s ruling that Scipioni was not forthcoming in the details of the relationship, and that he should be suspended for one year, but not banned from teaching. This week, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Scipioni should not have been punished beyond the suspension, and is entitled to return to his job.Scipioni is reportedly interested in returning to work for the district after he and the district settle on back pay. A district spokesperson said that while it disagrees with the ruling, it will abide by the justices' ruling. 1546

Along with the ornaments and strands of lights, two police officers in the 4th precinct of Minneapolis' Police Department added some unusual items to their lobby's Christmas tree: A collection of street trash, including packs of Newport cigarettes, a crumpled bag of Takis chips, a cup from a Popeyes fried chicken outlet, a can of Steel Reserve malt liquor and some yellow crime scene tape. Critics say the items chosen play on negative stereotypes about African-Americans."These pieces of trash were deliberately chosen to represent how certain officers feel about the community they serve: that Black people are a stereotype to be mocked and the lives of those they serve may as well be reduced to trash in the gutter," City Councilman Phillipe Cunningham said on Facebook. The department has since placed the officers on leave and has launched an internal investigation amid an outcry that the decorations mocked the precinct's predominantly black neighborhoods. Amazon is pulling Washington Redskins merchandise from their online marketplace.The announcement comes after the team indicated it was reviewing a possible name change, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was supportive of the review.According to a notice distributed to sellers on Amazon, and first published by CNBC, the company said they are removing all products with the Redskins logo and name, and gave sellers just a few days to remove items.Washington State Attorney General sent a letter to Amazon asking for the team products to be removed. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - The Alpine Union School District has become one of the first local school districts to begin mandatory testing for all staff members.In partnership with Cal Fire, the pre-K to 8 school district rolled out drive-thru COVID-19 testing on Wednesday."The number that came out was beyond what we expected. It was a steady flow of staff all day long," said District Superintendent Rich Newman.So far, 65% of all staff -- about 130 employees -- have gotten a test, with results due back within two to five days."We’ve gone one step beyond most districts," said Newman.Newman says while the state requires districts test half their staff every month during in-person learning, his school district expects to test all of its staff every month. The drive-thru testing events will be held every two weeks."We want to make sure we can stay open for our students," said Newman.The testing is one component of a detailed in-school learning plan, which includes plexiglass dividers on every student desk and a thorough cleaning regimen."I had a meeting with the principals and it was very emotional, because they felt all the hard work paid off," said Newman.As for the testing, Newman says the response from parents and staff has been positive."The number one response from staff has been 'Thank you for setting this up quickly,'" said Newman.Newman hopes the testing track down asymptomatic cases and provide some peace of mind."If our staff feels safe, healthy, and taken care of, they can focus on teaching and learning with our students," said Newman.Newman says each class has assigned restrooms and outdoor spaces that will help officials with tracing if an outbreak should develop. 1706
