I think it is untrue," said Wen when answering a question from Juergen Hambrecht, chief executive of German chemical company BASF.Foreign firms have voiced concern China's indigenous innovation policy might provide incentives for government bodies to purchase products developed by Chinese companies.The World Bank in a July report gave China a low investment environment ranking.But the amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) that flowed into China in the first half of the year rose 19.6 percent year on year, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).China attracted 12.51 billion U.S. dollars in FDI in June alone, up 39.6 percent year on year.Wen said, "Foreign investment will not pour into a country where the investment environment is worsening."Wen said China has relatively good infrastructure as well as fair and stable market environment.

BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) - The first Chinese language study program for foreign diplomats concluded on Saturday at Hanban, the executive body of the Chinese Language Council International.The program, which started on February 27 with a two-hour class every Saturday, had attracted 31 diplomats from 16 countries to China. The countries included Slovenia, Benin, Poland, Cameroon, Kenya, Nepal, Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Mexico, Afghanistan, and the Philippines."We have a lot to do in China and that makes us feel that it is necessary to learn Chinese. Not only have we learnt the Chinese language, we have also made friends with the dedicated teachers and volunteer students," said Tadeusz Chomicki, Polish Ambassador to China.During the 17-weeks of classes, the foreign diplomats learned how to greet others, shop and ask time in Chinese. They also had classes on Chinese culture, experienced the Peking opera, paper cutting, Chinese calligraphy, and shadow boxing."They were always keeping a very high spirit to learn in all weather," said Xu Lin, director-general of Hanban. XIAMEN, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland and Taiwan have come closer to signing a comprehensive economic pact as "substantial progress" has been made in negotiations, the mainland's chief Taiwan affairs official said on Sunday.Speaking at a centerpiece conference of the week-long Straits Forum held in the southeastern city of Xiamen, Director of the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office, Wang Yi, said the progress in talks on the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) is a result of joint endeavors and shall be honored by both sides.The two sides discussed the main contents of the pact and items of the goods and services to be included in the "early harvest program" at the third round of expert-level talks in Beijing last week.The Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) represented both sides during the negotiations. Two previous talks were held in Beijing and Taipei earlier this year.The ECFA is intended to normalize mainland-Taiwan economic ties and bring the two economies closer, the pact's initiators said. Its "early harvest program" will cover certain industries to first benefit from tariff reductions.

BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- China's largest gold producer said on Tuesday its operating profits rose by three fold to 1.55 billion yuan (228.09 million U.S. dollars) in the first six months this year.China National Gold Group Corp. said in a statement that its first-half revenue grew by 98 percent from a year earlier to 27.67 billion yuan and expected its full-year revenue to reach 50 billion yuan.At the end of June, the gold producer had 1,250 tonnes of gold reserves, eight million tonnes of copper reserves and 1.6 million tonnes of molybdenum, according to the statement.In the first half of 2010, the company added a total of 24.7 tonnes of gold, 683,000 tonnes of copper and 445,000 tonnes of molybdenum to its reserves, said the statement.The company had improved its development strategies through conducting merge and acquisitions, integrating regional resources and exploring overseas, said Sun Zhaoxue, general manager of the gold producer.
