GABORONE, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said here on Monday that China is satisfied with its relations with Botswana.In a meeting with Botswana's President Ian Khama, Xi said the bilateral ties have developed steadily and fruitfully and that both sides have kept close coordination in the international arena.Xi, who arrived in Gaborone on Saturday for an official visit, noted that bilateral economic cooperation has maintained a good momentum in recent years, and Botswana has become one of China's vital partners in Africa."The Chinese side is satisfied with the development of bilateral ties," Xi was quoted as saying by a press release issued by the Chinese delegation.He said China values its ties with Botswana, noting that China will continue to enhance political trust, expand economic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchange with Botswana."I believe the China-Botswana friendly cooperation is sure to have a promising future," he said.The Chinese vice president also praised Botswana for its active role in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, calling for joint efforts to push forward the smooth development of the forum.Botswana is the final leg of Xi's four-nation trip to Asia and Africa. Xi and Chinese delegation left Gaborone right after the meeting.

YAOUNDE, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has agreed with Cameroon's President Paul Biya during a meeting here on Thursday that the two countries should expand cooperation and further promote bilateral relations.During their meeting, Hui said since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cameroon 40 years ago, the two countries have treated each other equally, friendly and with mutual trust. BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- China is pinning hopes on its affordable housing programs to cool its red-hot property market in the latest round of campaigns against rising asset bubbles, after the government moved to crack down on market speculation during the past year.Experts held that to increase supplies of affordable housing is the key solution to guide the market toward healthy development and help stabilize prices.During a talk show hosted by China National Radio on Dec. 26, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said the government will press forward housing price control and increase the supply of affordable houses for low-income earners.His words came after the government had announced a plan to build 10 million more low-income housing units this year.China is working on a more healthy system that provides housing that meets different demands, after an array of policies, including tighter credit for commercial housing, failed to produce satisfactory results in 2010.In 70 major Chinese cities, home prices rose 0.3 percent month on month and 7.7 percent year on year in November last year, which was the third consecutive month prices rose.China started the construction of some 5.9 million units of affordable homes in 2010, of which 3.7 million were completed, official figures showed.Qin Hong, a researcher with the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development, said the number of affordable homes is still "far from enough", especially as more low-rent homes are needed for China's "sandwich class" families who either are disqualified for low-cost housing or cannot afford the sky-high prices of commercial housing."By attaching more importance to affordable homes and low-rent housing, it seems that the government is leading the market in the right direction," said Zhang Hanya, head of the Investment Association of China.

I will start my trip from Spain, a country I admire for its long history and modern development, a country I feel close at heart though it is far away from China. I will use this opportunity to bring to the Spanish people the friendship of the Chinese people and China's sincere desire to increase cooperation with Spain.China has 1.3 billion people. It is the biggest developing country on earth. After over 30 years of reform and opening-up, China has achieved remarkable success in economic and social development. China's GDP has grown by an annual average of 9.9%, and the Chinese economy is one of the largest in the world. China has steadily expanded the opening-up program. It is now the second largest trading nation in the world. China has remained the top recipient of foreign investment among developing countries for years and its outbound investment ranks the fifth in the world. Having made the historic leap from mere subsistence to overall moderate prosperity, the Chinese people are enjoying much higher living standards. Per capita income has risen eight times and more than 200 million people have been lifted out of poverty. A minimum living allowance system covering both urban and rural areas is by and large in place. And the Chinese people are leading an increasingly fulfilling cultural life.Proud as we are of these accomplishments, the Chinese people are keenly aware of the problems we face in development. China has to deal with the most complex national conditions in the world. Any big achievement in development, when divided among the 1.3 billion people, will become small. We need to engage in exchanges and cooperation with other countries and draw on the fine achievements of human civilizations. Our world is one where no country can develop with its door closed. These measures are important in promoting development. Third, China is a solid champion of green economy. Many of the concepts and technologies that originated in developed countries, like circular economy, clean energy, low-carbon technology and sustainable development, have been more and more accepted by the Chinese business community and the general public, and have been applied in many aspects of their work and life. To turn the blueprint into reality, China will continue to deepen reform, stick to the market direction of reforms, and establish institutional arrangements that will facilitate economic transition. China's door is open to the world. China's development will bring enormous opportunities of cooperation to Spain and other countries in Europe and beyond.Situated on opposite ends of the Eurasian continent, China and Spain are geographically apart. And if only a few in every hundred Chinese would travel to Spain every year, no hotel room in Spain will be left vacant. And for Spain’s transport, telecommunications, banking and insurance sectors, some of their biggest future customers would be Chinese. China supports Spain in the series of economic and financial adjustment measures Spain has adopted, and is convinced of the certainty of full recovery of the Spanish economy. China is willing to explore, together with Spain, the positive and effective forms of cooperation. China is a responsible long-term investor, both in the European financial market and in the Spanish financial market. China has confidence in Spain's financial market. It has purchased Spanish Treasury bonds and will buy still more.China and Spain have all along been good friends and good partners.
