A local pastor is speaking out after he says a woman leaving a pizza place in Detroit coughed on him as they crossed paths. The woman was wearing a mask, he wasn’t, and the whole incident was captured on surveillance video.Michael Hale and his wife Victoria were out celebrating Juneteenth, but when the couple went to get a pizza the celebration turned to anger. He says a woman started interrogating him about not wearing a mask.“She literally started to say things to me like, where is your mask or did you lose your mask. And so I told her my mask is in the car, I’m not going to be in here,” he said. “She literally walked back out, leaned over and coughed directly into my face."Surveillance video of the incident captured every moment, from when Michael crosses paths with that woman and she appears to cough in his face. Michael immediately reacted.“I just basically told her that you can’t do this stuff, 'why did you do this to me. I didn’t do anything to you like that,'” Michael recalled.His wife, Victoria, was sitting in the car and couldn’t believe what she saw. She says they filed a police report after the incident but was told police can’t do anything about it.“The sergeant told me that no criminal charges will be filed against her and in the State of Michigan it is currently not a crime to cough on someone," Victoria said. "But, according to the prosecutor they can’t go after things like this because it’s not a crime and they don’t have the resources to pursue these types of things."Michael says he should of had his mask on, but what happened to him shouldn’t have happened at all.“You don’t have the opportunity to police me and to ridicule me for not wearing my mask because no one made you in charge,” he said.DPD would only confirm to us they are investigating. A man and a woman were arrested in Arkansas on Tuesday after the woman's 1-year-old child was found dead in their bedroom closet. Fayetteville Police say that 21-year-old Tyler Hobbs called dispatchers stating that the child fell down the stairs and started seizing. He said that he performed CPR on the child but could not revive the child. Hobbs told police, “It happened a few days ago.” He explained that he got scared and did not know what to do.When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke with Hobbs and the child’s mother, 21-year-old Maria Giron-Molina.Inside the closet of the bedroom where the couple slept, officers found the child's body decomposing inside a plastic container that was covered with blankets.Hobbs later admitted to investigators that the child was crying uncontrollably and that it was giving him a headache. The child then knocked a picture frame and lamp off of a bedside table. Angered at the child’s refusal to calm down, police say that Hobbs picked the child up and covered its mouth with his hand to “muffle” the crying.Hobbs told investigators that the child hit and scratched him, so he shook the child back-and-forth. Hobbs said he blacked out, and when he “came to”, he saw the child was not breathing.He then performed CPR to attempt to revive the child. His initial effort was successful, but ultimately the child died without ever receiving medical attention, according to police.Hobbs said he was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the child’s death. He expressed remorse for his actions, and he said he did not intend to harm the child, police say.Hobbs was arrested for first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. Giron-Molina was arrested for abuse of a corpse. 1761

A judge is temporarily barring the Department of Homeland Security from enforcing new asylum restrictions on two organizations.Judge Paula Xinis says that's because action Sec. Chad Wolf is likely in his role unlawfully.Dozens of states, cities and counties are suing over the new rules that make asylum seekers wait longer to get jobs.The Maryland judge's injunction applies only to two groups she say shave clear standing and proof of irreparable harm: CASA de Maryland and Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project.Previously, the government accountability office also determined that Wold was appointed as part of an invalid order of succession. 646

A former Jupiter, Florida police sergeant was fired after an investigation found he performed sex acts while on duty, is now suing the town of Jupiter.Jason VanSteenburgh is suing the town for negligent supervision as well as retaliation and discrimination, after he says he was sexually harassed by then Major Amy Walling.Walling was fired at the same time as VanSteenburgh, for engaging in those sexual acts with the sergeant, while he was on duty.Investigators said videos taken during the acts were part of evidence. In his lawsuit, VanSteenburgh admits he engaged in a sexual relationship with his supervisor, Walling in 2013. But he says "she used her power as major to discipline him for personal matters/disputes and put his position on the SWAT team at issue."VanSteenburgh said he ended his relationship with Walling in 2016 when "she began to stalk him and sexually harass him in the workplace, despite his objections." VanSteenburgh says he was fearful of complaining about her."This fear was confirmed when Chief Kitzerow made a comment to VanSteenburgh that he would 'always back his command staff,'" the lawsuit claims.He says despite his objections, Walling then sent him a half-naked photo of herself in his shirt. She also allegedly "bought a home near his home and an identical vehicle to that of his fiancee."VanSteenburgh said he complained to the chief, deputy chief, human resources and other majors multiple times but was told not to worry. He claims "Walling was told to stay away by command staff," but she didn't.VanSteenburgh then says he was removed from the SWAT team and placed on administrative leave. Eventually, he was fired but claimed Walling was given the chance to fight for her job when he wasn't.Jupiter police investigators found that VanSteenburgh engaged in sexual acts in July 2015, after they said a video produced by Walling confirmed all of this.He was also found to have sent a half-naked photo while on duty and in uniform in 2015.Investigators found Walling engaged in that sexual act in July 2015, and also sent naked photos of herself.Both permanently lost their jobs in 2017.  2197

A Catholic priest was beaten while praying at his church in Merrillville, Indiana, and authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime.The Rev. Basil John Hutsko told police he was attacked Monday morning inside the St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church as he was praying in the sacristy.The attacker "grabbed him by the neck, threw him down on the floor and immediately started slamming his head against the floor. Both sides, front and back," Merrillville Police Chief Joseph Petruch told CNN affiliate WBBM.The assailant left Hutsko battered, bruised and unconscious. And during the assault the attacker yelled, "'This is for all the little kids,'" Petruch said.It was an apparent reference to the clergy sex abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church in recent years. Just last week an explosive grand jury report out of Pennsylvania detailed decades of abuse of children by more than 300 priests in that state. 940
