SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Unified School District officials confirmed to 10News Thursday that a teacher has been placed on leave while investigators look into accusations that he exposed a sixth-grade class to pornography.Officials said they were first notified Monday after a parent reported the alleged incident happened during a physical education class at Horace Mann Middle School, located at 4345 54th Street in San Diego."San Diego Unified is investigating the incident that allegedly occurred at Mann Middle School. The employee has been placed on leave pending the investigation,” district officials said.The district said it has spoken with at least 10 students regarding the report. There were at least 24 students in the class.District officials and district police are investigating."It's reprehensible," Craig Tinson, whose 12-year-old grandson attends the school, said. "Becuase the students are very impressionable. They're looking for adults to be the leader and unfortunately, it was compromised on this occasion."A parent of one of the students told 10News that her son was in the class when the teacher allegedly showed the students an adult video of a man and woman engaged in sexual activities. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego ranks as a top contender for STEM jobs in the country and to show off our local talent, the first San Diego Tech Women's Summit kicks off Saturday. The conference held at Qualcomm brings in hundreds of engineers, researchers, scientists and every woman in between. Behind it all, there's CEO of Athena Holly Smithson, video game coder Jillian Moore, and senior program manager at Intuit KImbra Brookstein. The summit creates a space where women can share stories and learn new skills to skyrocket their careers in STEM. "So our goal is to expose them at an earlier age expose them to that community so people can really see the awesome work you can do."With more than 75 percent of STEM jobs held by men, they're all facing a similar battle. "Those are some of the soft skills that they're not teaching you at UCSD school of engineering perhaps," said Smithson. "We have companies like Apple and Amazon and Tesla that have just come into the San Diego marketplace in the last 18 months," said Smithson. And the opportunities are only growing. "The goal would be for folks to walk away with that understanding and really new resources and tools to stay in San Diego," said Brookstein. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Singer Alicia Keys and her husband, rapper and music producer Swizz Beatz, are behind the purchase of a a -million mansion on the cliffs of La Jolla, according to the Wall Street Journal.The paper, citing sources familiar with the deal, say Keys and Beatz, whose real name is Kasseem Dean, bought the 10,600-square-foot home that is said to have inspired Tony Stark's Malibu home in the "Iron Man" film franchise. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego's outbreak of hepatitis A appears to be slowing after more than two months, county health officials said Tuesday.San Diego County has topped 100,000 hepatitis A vaccinations, the San Diego County Health and Human Service Agency announced. In a presentation to the county Board of Supervisors, health officials said there had been a downward trend in new cases over the past 11 weeks, with only two new cases added since the last report.RELATED: Downtown businesses take steps to fight Hepatitis A outbreakThe board also extended the region's health emergency, as it has been required to do every two weeks since the first declaration on Sept. 1.As of Nov. 8, there have been 546 cases hepatitis A, requiring 369 hospitalizations and resulting in 20 deaths. Each had makeup, hair, and wardrobe provided thanks to Macy's. “Today’s fashion show is all about friendships," said Mary Johnson with the community outreach team. "Friendships are just as important as taking good care of yourself, exercising, and good nutrition.
