A US Navy helicopter crashed onto the flight deck of an aircraft carrier in the Philippines Sea on Friday, injuring personnel on board.The MH-60 Seahawk hit the flight deck of the USS Ronald Reagan shortly after takeoff around 9 a.m., according to a statement released by the Navy's Seventh Fleet. All injured are in stable condition and are being evaluated by medical staff.The Navy did not say how many people were injured but that some "will be medically evacuated ashore" without specifying a location.An investigation has been opened into the cause of the crash, according to the statement.The incident occurred during routine operations in the Philippine Sea, which spreads north and east of the Philippines.The aircraft carrier "remains fully mission capable" and normal flight operations to support the mission of "support and security and stability in the Indo-Pacific Region" have resumed, the Navy said.Last week the Nimitz-class, or, nuclear-powered aircraft participated in the International Fleet Review near South Korea's Jeju Island.In May 2017, the USS Ronald Reagan began sea trials in the Pacific before replacing the USS Carl Vinson near the Korean Peninsula.The 1,092-foot Reagan carries a crew of 4,539 and is equipped with roughly 60 aircraft, according to the Navy. A public school administrator in Nashville has resigned following the disclosure of a secret recording where he plotted to bypass filters designed to protect children from exposure to lead in their water.Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) executive director of facilities Dennis Neal, resigned Friday, according to MNPS communications director Olivia Brown. Neal had been placed on administrative leave while the district investigated.Neal's resignation came less than a week after Scripps station WTVF in Nashville?uncovered the recording from inside a meeting of schools maintenance employees.Recording Reveals Plan To 'Bypass' Lead FilterFor the past nine months, WVTF has exposed data kept secret by the district showing high lead levels in some Metro schools. Lead is a toxic metal that can cause learning and behavioral problems in children.In response, a number of schools installed special fountains that were supposed to filter out the lead. A poll commissioned by CNN and conducted by SSRS showed a majority of Americans are embarrassed by how the US has responded to the coronavirus pandemic, and are angry about the way things are going in the nation. The poll conducted August 12 through 15 was released on Wednesday.The poll surveyed 1,108 Americans, 31% of whom are Democrats, 27% of whom are Republicans, and the remaining 42% being either independent or a third-party supporter.The poll has a 3.7% margin of error.Here are the highlights:68% of Americans are embarrassed by America’s coronavirus response, compared to 28% who say they’re proud51% said they’re “very angry” about the direction of the country; 27% said they’re somewhat angry57% said there should not be in-person learning in their community, compared to 37% who said their local schools should be open for in-person learning49% said that pro sports should not be played, compared to 46% who say games should be playedAs far as marks on President Donald Trump, 51% approve of his handling of the economy, compared to 44% who disapprove. While most Americans approve of his handling of the economy, 62% said he could be doing more to combat the coronavirus.The number of Americans who are personally impacted by the virus has also increased in recent months. When the poll was last conducted in June, only 40% of Americans said they personally knew someone who was infected by the virus.
