SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday after being shot in Chollas View. According to police, the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at an apartment complex near the 47th Street Trolley Station. 10News spoke to the victim's mother. She said her eldest son, Ricardo Dominguez was shot in the right hip. The bullet went through the main artery but missed his organs. She said Ricardo is now sedated at the ICU -- in serious but stable condition.Witnesses told police two cars were seen speeding from the area, but no word on whether or not the vehicles were involved in the shooting.Ricardo Dominguez's mother has set up a fundraiser page. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A former longtime San Diego Zoo biologist has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the iconic zoo.Matthew John Anderson, 49, of Ramona, Calif., admitted to stealing more than 6,000 through bogus vendor invoices between December 2008 and October 2016, according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney Southern District of California.Investigators say Anderson created 35 fake invoices billing the San Diego Zoo for various payments from purported vendors. The zoo paid the invoices to third parties that then gave the bulk of the payment to Anderson. He was fired in 2017.“When an employee is elevated to a position of leadership, it is a sign of that company’s trust in the integrity and honesty of that person,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Scott Brunner. “When an employee violates that trust and abuses their position to defraud and steal money for personal benefit, the FBI stands ready to hold them accountable.”Anderson has been charged with theft or conversion concerning programs receiving federal funds. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Willie O'Ree, who played seven seasons with the original San Diego Gulls after becoming the first African-American man to play in the NHL, will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame Monday in Toronto.O'Ree was elected to the hall in June in the Builder Category, along with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, for his work growing the game.``This honor would not be possible if I had not rejoined the league in 1998,'' O'Ree said.  ``I was given a second wind to give back to the game and I am honored to be recognized.''Bettman said he was ``particularly honored to be part of a class that includes Willie O'Ree.''O'Ree became the NHL's diversity ambassador in 1998. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A federal judge has ordered the San Diego Police Department to stop citing people for living in their vehicles.The decision comes after a lawsuit was filed against the city by a group of homeless people and their advocates.On Tuesday, United States District Judge Anthony Battaglia agreed with the plaintiff’s argument that the city’s municipal code was too vague in defining what constitutes habitation of a vehicle.Tristia Bauman, an attorney with the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty which helped work on the case told 10News, “we are very happy and pleased that the judge understood what we were arguing.”However, that was only one half of the lawsuit. The other half targeted the city’s municipal ordinance that outlaws RV parking from 2-6a.m. Known as the Nighttime RV Ordinance, or Oversized Vehicle Ordinance (OVO), the judge denied the request to enjoin it, saying the same argument did not apply.In the decision, Battaglia wrote “while the court sympathies that this Ordinance leaves Plaintiffs with nowhere to park between these hours and is decidedly unfair, the law is not ambiguous, unclear or vague in any way.”A spokesperson for city attorney Mara Elliot declined to comment beyond saying they “will review the ruling and advise our client.”An early neutral evaluation conference had been scheduled for Thursday with all the parties. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A City pool is now drained and shut down after vandals threw glass into it.Parents who bring their kids to the Allied Gardens pool for swim lessons were notified on Monday of the closure. "Honestly my reaction, I just kind of sat there dumbfounded, they called and said the classes were canceled, me being curious I asked why, they said vandalism. I said you have to be kidding. This is my neighborhood!" said Marie Veenstra, a mom of three.She says two of her children attend lessons at the pool on Glenroy Street four days a week. "It is super frustrating, not only as a mom who can't bring her kids to the pool, but thinking about the environment," said Veenstra.The City says broken shards of glass can be impossible to see or retrieve without draining the pool. Broken glass found in and around the pool results in having to drain the pool completely, conduct a thorough cleaning of the pool bottom to retrieve remaining pieces of glass, refill the pool with water and necessary chemicals to ensure the pool is safe and then reopen the facility.The City's safety protocol is consistent with the Model Aquatic Health Code. Draining and refilling the more than 320,000-gallon pool will cost the City roughly ,000 when factoring in personnel. "We love our pool though, we wish this didn't happen, but we'll come back."City officials say a police report has been filed, but there are no leads as to who threw glass in the pool. 1458
