EDEN, the Bronx — Police arrested three people Thursday in connection with the shooting death of a dad gunned down as he crossed a Bronx street with his daughter.Davon Delks, 21, Laquan Heyward, 25 and Devon Vines, 27, were all arrested on murder charges.Anthony Robinson, 29, was holding his 6-year-old daughter's hand when he was fatally shot on July 6. Video showed Robinson, hand in hand with his 6-year-old daughter, look to his left at a Bronx intersection and cross when a car paused to let them go. The driver then pulled up and someone in the vehicle opened fire, striking Robinson repeatedly.Robinson collapsed to the ground at East 170th Street and Sheridan Avenue. MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The re-energized racial justice movement has brought to light more systemic disparities, especially in criminal justice reform.“What we are saying is we have to have a system that does not prejudice people due to their poverty,” said Jared Mollenkof, an executive board member of the Minnesota Freedom Fund. “In reality, if you have enough money, you will always get out.”The Minnesota Freedom Fund started in 2016 as a small operation dedicated to ending cash bail systems. They helped bail out about 67 people last year.Following demonstrations set off by George Floyd's killing, donations started flooding in to help get protesters out of jail. Just since May, they've now bailed out at least ninety people.People all over the world, about 1 million individuals, have donated some million.“We have criminalized everything. We arrest people for bull**** and then we try to force it all through a system that would not be able to keep up, but for the fact that it leaves all these people in cages and counts on the fact that people want to get home,” said Mollenkof.The Minnesota Freedom Fund says getting people out pre-trial now, with COVID-19, is even more important.It says in the past, a third of people it has bailed out have had their cases dismissed.People are less likely to plead guilty when they're not held in custody. NBC News announced Wednesday that President Donald Trump would participate in a town hall-style event on Thursday — the day that he and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden were scheduled to have a debate prior to Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis.NBC says the event, hosted by Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, will take place in Miami with "a group of Florida voters."The network also said that it had received a statement from Dr. Clifford Lane, the Clinical Director at the National Institutes of Health, who said that both he and Dr. Anthony Fauci had cleared Trump to participate.The records reportedly reviewed by Lane and Fauci included a PCR COVID-19 test. Lane said that he has a "high degree of confidence" that the president is "not shedding infectious virus."The one-hour event will begin at 8 p.m. ET Thursday.Trump's town hall will come the same day that Joe Biden will be holding his own town hall event on ABC. Biden scheduled the event last week after the second presidential debate was canceled. Forbes Magazine reports Perry is officially worth one billion dollars.This puts Perry in the same group of billionaires with Oprah Winfrey, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.Forbes says Perry owns the rights to all 22 of his movies, which have grossed nearly a billion dollars to date. He also owns more than 1,200 TV episodes, about two dozen plays and a studio lot in Atlanta.“I mostly go on my gut and my instinct. I like to challenge the system and see what I can do differently,” Perry told Forbes recently for a piece on his billionaire status.Perry was once homeless, and grew up in poverty in New Orleans. “I love when people say you come from ‘humble beginnings,’ ” he told Forbes. “[It] means you were poor as hell.”In early August, Tyler Perry Studios completed filming season 2 of “Sistas,” a comedy-drama on BET.
