A man wanted in connection with a quadruple murder in Detroit has shot himself, according to police. George Anthony Davis, 27, shot himself near the Ohio Turnpike after leading police on a chase.Police said Davis shot and killed three people, a man and two women, at a gas station iin Detroit Monday morning. The male victim was identified as Deacon Ralphael Hall, leader at a local church, his 26-year-old daughter Cierra Bargineer and 21-year-old Kristen Thomas.Police say surveillance cameras captured everything; a man pulled up in a silver sedan and started talking to people in a gray Dodge SUV. Seconds later, the man in the sedan shot the people in the SUV and shot at the man pumping gas.When he ran out of bullets, he went back to his car to reload, and came back to shoot more. A trendy shampoo making all sorts of promises has proven to be a real head-scratcher for both consumers and state investigators.Monat is mostly sold person-to-person through multi-level marketing.In 2018, 13 Investigates first broke the story of allegations of balding and scalp sores by some of its users.Lather, rinse, repeat: Monat is once again under the microscope, this time signing a compliance agreement and issuing refunds."I started noticing my hair was just falling out in handfuls," said Pam Benson of Moore, OK. She says her problems started after using Monat hair care products."I had also tried this on my daughter and my granddaughter. I tried the children's version on my granddaughter and her hair was falling out and my daughter's hair fell out."Benson says before Monat, "My hair was so thick that I couldn't put a ponytail holder around it twice." And after... "my hair got so thin I could put it around four or five times."When she complained to the company, she says a Monat rep told her, "It was detox. And they said your hair has to detox and get rid of all the build-up that's on your hair."That's just one of the claims the multi-level marketer is no longer allowed to make. In August, Monat signed an "Assurance of Voluntary Compliance" to resolve an investigation by the Attorney General in Florida, where Monat is headquartered. The attorney general's office launched its investigation into Monat's claims and business practices after a 13 investigation in March of 2018. The office was aware of more than 800 consumer complaints across the country."I had a very close friend who insisted that this was the best thing since sliced bread," said Las Vegas Realtor Lynne Bloomquist.She spent nearly 0 on Monat products in July 2018 but was able to get a refund after complaining to Monat that she had problems with her shampoo right away."My hair came out not feeling clean," Bloomquist said. She told them her hair lost its natural curl. And her scalp?"The biggest problem was the continuous itching," she said. That's absolutely false," Hoolihan says. "We’ve got to make sure that the claims that we make are based on reliable and competent data. Are we vegan? Yes. Can we say that we’re gluten free? Yes. Can we say that we’re Leaping Bunny certified? Absolutely."Per the compliance agreement, Monat can't make any product claims that aren't supported by reliable, objective scientific evidence accepted by experts. The company must also preserve all data and documents about any clinical test or study, including who sponsored it. It's boring legal stuff."Attorney Janet Varnell sees it differently. "This was a major investigation. And I don't believe for one minute that they should be taking it as lightly as they obviously are."Varnell represents plaintiffs in a pending class-action lawsuit against Monat that includes cases consolidated from across the country."We do not believe, and I do not believe as (the consumers') lawyer, that they (Monat) were operating on a sound scientific basis for making the types of claims they were making. This shampoo does not re-grow your hair! They can't prove that today and they couldn't prove it when they first started selling it."The lawsuit is separate from the Attorney General's action. Varnell sees both as consumer victories."The single most important thing that any Attorney General's office can do is get injunctive relief that stops bad practices. And that has definitely happened."On that September video call, Monat President Stuart MacMillan described some of the company's critics as "Haters.""Don't let the haters dictate to you what you can and cannot say," MacMillan tells the company's sales force. A report prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee said Russian social media efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election included messaging in support of the Green Party 2016 presidential nominee Jill Stein.CNN obtained the report, prepared by New Knowledge, which said the Russian government-linked Internet Research Agency -- a well-known troll farm -- utilized all major social media platforms, and its efforts online included messaging in support of Stein's third party presidential effort.CNN has reached out to Stein for comment on the report.The mentions of Stein online came alongside related and disparate messages noted throughout the report, which said the Internet Research Agency's themes ranged from support for Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and the Black Lives Matter movement to the Tea Party and gun rights.A summation of the report's findings on "comprehensive anti-Hillary Clinton operations" said while the group's assumed Twitter personas had some pro-Clinton content, "the developed Left-wing Twitter personas were still largely anti-Clinton and expressed pro-Bernie Sanders and pro-Jill Stein sentiments."Likewise, the report said "pro-Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein content" were among the group's go-to themes across other platforms.The report's assertion about support for Stein echoed similar accounts in the past about Russian influence online. An indictment of Russian nationals earlier this year from special counsel Robert Mueller said the online effort included encouraging "minority groups not to vote in the 2016 US presidential election or to vote for a third-party US presidential candidate."Throughout her presidential bid, Stein called for a conciliatory approach with Russia, and she has compared Russian interference in the 2016 election with US efforts around the globe.Earlier this year, Stein told CNN she objected to turning over some documents to the Senate Intelligence Committee. A pedestrian bridge suddenly collapsed onto the road below near Florida International University, crushing cars and killing at least six people Thursday.Hours after the bridge collapsed, officials said early Friday that the rescue mission is now a recovery operation.Emergency crews worked overnight in what Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zavaleta called a "very slow process" in order to preserve evidence and the safety of possible victims and rescuers, because of unstable conditions at the bridge.At least nine people were transported to hospitals for treatment, authorities said.Witnesses described hearing a loud boom Thursday and moments later, finding victims, including construction workers across the wreckage and people trapped in cars.Senator Marco Rubio, who visited the site Thursday, posted on Twitter: "The cables that suspend the #Miami bridge had loosened & the engineering firm ordered that they be tightened. They were being tightened when it collapsed today." A visitor to Yellowstone National Park was injured by a grizzly bear while hiking near Old Faithful on Monday.According to a park press release, the 37-year-old woman from Missouri was hiking alone on the Fairy Falls Trail when she encountered two grizzly bears "at very close range."One of the bears knocked the woman down, and she suffered a scratch on her thigh. The woman also received minor injuries to her face from the fall. She declined medical attention.The park said the woman attempted to use bear spray during the encounter."From the injured person's statements, this appears to be a typical case of a mother grizzly bear protecting her offspring following a close-range encounter," said Kerry Gunther, a bear management biologist. "Because this bear was displaying natural protective behavior for its cub, no action will be taken against the bear. Several trails in the area will be closed to give the grizzly family group time to clear from the area."Monday's incident marks the first time a bear has injured a visitor in Yellowstone in 2020. The last time a bear injured a visitor in the park was in June 2019 when a black bear bit into an occupied tent and bruised a woman's thigh.Following the incident, the Fairy Falls Trail was cleared of hikers.
