SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police announced Thursday the arrest of a mother accused of driving her SUV the wrong way in Rancho Bernardo, causing a head-on crash that injured her children and an innocent driver.Mayra Gonzalez, 29, was drunk when she drove her Chevy Suburban east in the westbound lanes of Camino del Norte west of Interstate 15 Monday morning, police said.The Suburban hit a Jeep Liberty, seriously injuring the 57-year-old man in the Jeep.Gonzalez’ three children were in the car at the time of the crash. Her 8-year-old and 2-year-old daughters had minor injuries but her 9-month-old daughter, who was unrestrained, suffered life-threatening injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diegans will decide whether to pass or defeat Measure E, which asks voters to decide on a 30-foot height limit on buildings in the Midway-Pacific Highway area.Measure E reads as follows:City of San Diego - Measure E: REMOVING 30-FOOT HEIGHT LIMIT IN MIDWAY-PACIFIC HIGHWAY COMMUNITY PLAN AREA. Shall People’s Ordinance O-10960 be amended to exclude the Midway-Pacific Highway Community Plan area, which includes the Sports Arena, from the 30-foot height limit on buildings in the Coastal Zone, with any future development still required to comply with other governing laws?(Full text)Voters will be able to vote “yes” or “no” on the measure. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand during the team’s loss at Arizona Sunday.Padres skipper Jayce Tingler confirmed Pham’s injury during an appearance Monday on MLB Network Radio.The injury happened during Pham’s ninth inning at-bat in Sunday’s game. The left fielder/DH fouled off a pitch and then immediately shook his left hand in apparent pain.Following a visit from the trainer, Pham exited the game, forcing the Padres to put Greg Garcia in to finish the at-bat in the eventual 5-4 loss. The Friars' loss was their fifth in a row.At the time of his injury, Pham was the tied for the MLB lead in stolen bases with six and among the league leaders in walks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Restaurant owners across San Diego County are preparing to once again take their indoor operations outside, but some say this latest move will put them out of business for good.On Tuesday, state health officials announced updated data that places the county in the restrictive purple tier under California's COVID-19 reopening plan.For Ike Gazaryan and other local business owners, this will be the third time since March that they will be forced to shut down.Gazaryan, who owns Pushkin Russian Restaurant and Bar on Sixth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter, said, "Every time you shut down and open, it costs ,000, ,000 because you have to buy all the produce, you have to bring all the employees back, you have to clean everything.”Gazaryan told ABC 10News that outdoor dining isn't an option at his location, and he said weather isn't the only issue."Before you had a lot of people and they were able to somewhat control the homelessness. Now, there are a lot of people losing everything they had, you have more homeless people, you have less people walking around because nobody is working in the offices, so percentage-wise it looks like it's a homeless town at this point," said Gazaryan.Gazaryan owns the restaurant and two other related businesses. He doesn't want to have to fire his 20 employees, but he doesn't think he's going to make it."I'm really afraid I'm going to lose my restaurant before the end of this year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the public to help find the driver who left a man with several severe injuries along an Ocean Beach street last month.Police say at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 6, a 64-year-old man was walking his bike northbound in the bicycle lane of the 4000 block of Nimitz Blvd. The suspect, driving a newer model Nissan Versa Note hatchback (shown below), struck the victim. The driver sped off, leaving the man severely injured.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital suffering from several fractures to his pelvis, ribs, fibula, and foot. He also suffered lacerations and injuries to his bladder and liver. The man is expected to survive but remains hospitalized, police say.Police say the Nissan should have damage to its passenger side front headlight, fender, and side view mirror.
