SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Recent rains have caused sewage-contaminated runoff to enter ocean water along Imperial Beach, San Diego County health officials announced Friday.An existing water contact closure of the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge coastline has been expanded to include all of Imperial Beach's coast, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health.Due to recent rainfall, county health officials said sewage-contaminated runoff from the Tijuana River entered the Tijuana Estuary. According to a letter sent to Governor Gavin Newsom, the resignation will be effective close of business day on January 13, 2020. “It has been an honor to serve the people of California’s 50th District, and I greatly appreciate the trust they have put in me over the last 11 years,” Hunter concludes in the letter to Governor Gavin Newsom. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Retail stores across San Diego County are preparing for more restrictions in anticipation of a move into the state's COVID-19 purple tier.For retail stores, it would mean reduced capacity to 25%.At Warwick's in La Jolla, they're setting up window displays, not just to be festive, but also to help shoppers who may not feel comfortable coming inside the book store.Owner Nancy Warwick says she would support the decision if that's what it comes down to, but acknowledges they, like most, are struggling. They've been creative, offering more online shopping, phone orders, deliveries, and contact-free purchases.She says they'll turn one set of doors into an entrance, another the exit, to maintain a flow of traffic and a count of the number of people inside the store if they have to.For Warwick, it's about making her customers feel comfortable as well as her staff, some of whom she says have not returned to work because of safety concerns.Despite that, she is confident their online offerings and their emphasis on personal shopping will help them weather this round of restrictions, if it comes to that.Being in the store, she says, is uplifting, and provides a respite for customers who are looking for nostalgia, finding gifts there that are not available elsewhere. 1302

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego drivers waiting patiently to pick up friends and family at Lindbergh Field will have a new location at the airport starting Monday. San Diego International Airport is relocating its cell phone waiting lot to an area northwest of its current location on June 24. Drivers may park for free in the cell phone lot for up to an hour while they wait for loved ones to notify them of their arrival, avoiding traffic and illegal parking at the terminals.The new 85-space lot will be located east of the Airport Authority Administration Building on Harbor Drive. It will be accessible via a traffic light at Liberator Way, airport officials say. 673

It also has a staggering number of veterans who don’t have a place to liveAnd, even more alarming is the number every year who take their own lives.As ABC 10News Anchor, Kimberly Hunt explains…a non-profit in San Diego lead by, and staffed by, veterans is looking to change that.There are an estimated 1,100 homeless vets on the streets of San Diego. Statistically they commit suicide at a rate of 1.5 times higher than the general population.Kyle Drake is president of Cammies and Canines Sanctuary… a veteran owned, faith bases non-profit helping veterans by providing, among other things transitional housing, structure, and therapy.On this sprawling ranch in Dulzura, they’re given an opportunity.But Cammies and Canines Sanctuary under the importance of companionship. It pairs each veteran with a rescue dog which has been schooled by their master trainers as a service animal.Kyle’s construction company builds tiny homes on the property for each vet to have a sense of place. Tony’s pest control company, Mosquito Joes trains interested veterans to work in the pest control industry, and everyone is given a sense of responsibility and respect.
