SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 53-year-old woman caught in the crossfire of an argument between two men in the Mountain View neighborhood of San Diego suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police said Saturday morning.The men were arguing at 37th Street and Ocean View Boulevard about 11:40 p.m. Friday, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The victim was sitting in a vehicle that was between the two men as they argued. During the argument one of the men pulled a gun and shot at the other man, but struck the women in her left hip, Heims said.The woman drove away and police found her about a block away. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of her gunshot wound, he said.No other injuries were reported.A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available. 818

SAN BERNARDINO (KGTV) -- A man was seriously injured after falling 100 feet at Mount San Gorgonio Sunday afternoon.According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, 34-year-old Anthony Casteneda was hiking with friends near High Creek Trail when he lost his footing and fell approximately 100 feet.After the fall, Casteneda was unable to hike out of the area due to serious injuries he sustained during the fall. Deputies say Casteneda’s friends were able to call for help. The department had to use a rescue helicopter to hoist Casteneda from the heavily-forested ice-covered slope.In a release, deputies say Casteneda’s rescue was the second of the day Sunday. 684

While newspaper circulation is down nationwide, the U-T gave Goldbeck an introduction to an audience she may not have been able to reach on her own. Bill Celis, an associate professor of journalism at USC Annenberg, said people still look to newspapers for reasoned guidance on important issues and candidates. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 59-year-old woman suffered a fractured back when she was struck by a hit-and-run motorist in the Clairemont Mesa West community of San Diego, a police officer said Sunday.The woman was crossing westbound in the south crosswalk when she was hit a little before 6:25 p.m. Saturday by a vehicle that had been going westbound on Derrick Drive and made a left turn to southbound Genesee Avenue, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.Police had no description of the vehicle or the motorist.
