BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Health has said it will draw upon its experience from the H1N1 flu control to ensure prevention of the general flu, as the World Health Organization (WHO) announced plans for the post-pandemic period."Based on the experience from A/H1N1 prevention and control, we will revise emergency plans and will continue flu prevention efforts in a bid to ensure people's health," said a statement released late Tuesday by the ministry.Figures from the ministry show that the weekly new A/H1N1 cases have remained below 30 since mid-April. Further, no deaths have been reported for 12 consecutive weeks.While announcing the coming of the post-pandemic period, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan warned that the A/H1N1 virus will continue to spread as a seasonal flu for some years.Chan urged health authorities to maintain alert for the virus.So far, about 800 deaths from A/H1N1 influenza had been reported in China, Health Minister Chen Zhu said earlier.More than 100 million Chinese have been vaccinated against A/H1N1 flu as of May 14.The A/H1N1 virus was first identified in Mexico in April 2009. More than 211 countries and regions have reported laboratory confirmed cases of the flu, including more than 18,000 deaths.

You must overcome all difficulties with confidence and firm belief in order to give up drugs and be happy and healthy...," Meng told patients at the drug rehabilitation center.Meng expressed the hope that these patients would teach more people to cherish life and stay away from drugs after they returned to society.On Saturday, a local court in southeast China's Fujian Province announced the executions of two drug dealers who were convicted of selling and trafficking 12,242 grams of heroin.In addition, the ministry announced Saturday in a statement that police across the country seized 38,000 suspects in drug-related crimes from January to May during a national campaign.A total of 2.3 tons of heroine, 2.4 tons of crystal methamphetamine and 2.1 tons of ketamine were confiscated, along with 243 tons of chemicals for drug making.According to the statement, the crackdown, starting in early this year, has been focusing on drug making and trafficking, especially chains involving foreign sources.Saturday is the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

BEIJING, June 29 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisory body Tuesday started a new seminar to improve the capabilities of 296 national political advisors in advising the government work.During the four-day seminar, the participants, who were from 34 walks of life, will attend lectures and hold panel discussions focusing such topics as how to persisting in and improving the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, as well as the basic requirements for advisors to better perform their duties.Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top advisory body in China, met with the participants at the opening ceremony of the seminar.The seminar is the fifth of the kind ever organized by the 11th CPPCC National Committee.
