No violence or security issues were reported.Zhang Chunxian, the top official in Xinjiang, said holding the China-Eurasia Expo would help remake Xinjiang as a key region for China' s opening-up to its western neighbors.Ying Qian, an expert on regional cooperation with Manila-based Asian Development Bank, told Xinhua that the central government's policy supports for Xinjiang, such as taxation reform for crude oil and natural gas, and tax exemptions and reductions for enterprises in poverty areas, and increased fixed investment will undoubtedly increase the speed of economic growth and attract more domestic and foreign investments to Xinjiang.He said those fixed investments aimed at enhancing Xinjiang's position as the land bridge to connect rest of China to central Asia and beyond will yield most economic benefits for Xinjiang, as well as for rest of member countries of the ADB-supported Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program.The program, initiated in 1997 to encourage regional cooperation, includes Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China (focusing on Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region), Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.The ADB economist said the investments should include key transport links, trade logistics facilities, and most importantly, border crossing points improvements."The CAREC countries need to turn their landlocked status into a land link for Eurasia, and to enable businesses to more readily access regional and global markets," said Ronald Butiong, the ADB economist who heads the CAREC Unit.

To advance the international disarmament, arms control and non-proliferation process, joint and unremitting efforts are called for on the part of the entire international community," Wang said.He said that China welcomes the recent signing of a new bilateral nuclear disarmament treaty between the United States and the Russian Federation, and wishes to see the early ratification of the treaty."In the meantime, we hope that they, as countries with largest nuclear arsenals and special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament, will continue to make drastic and substantive reductions in their nuclear arsenals, so as to create the necessary conditions for the ultimate realization of complete and thorough nuclear disarmament," he said."When conditions are ripe, other nuclear-weapon states should also join the multilateral negotiations on nuclear disarmament," he added.On issues concerning nuclear non-proliferation, Wang urged the international community to work to safeguard the international nuclear non-proliferation regime and strengthen the safeguards function of the International Atomic Energy Agency."It is essential that all states strictly fulfill their non- proliferation obligations and strengthen their export control systems," he said. BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's central government will, for the first time, reserve vacancies for farmers and workers in this year's nationwide civil service exams.The announcement was made on Wednesday by the State Administration of Civil Service (SACS), which is in charge of recruiting central government employees.Millions of farmers living in the country's rural areas were not allowed to take the exam selecting central government officials until 2006, when the restriction of household registration, or hukou, was lifted.According to the administration, those reserved vacancies will be allocated among departments of the customs, state taxation and railway police at country-level or below.The SACS posted a notice for the exams on its website, but did not specify the number of reserved vacancies.The central government plans to recruit more than 16,000 public servants in 2011, 1,000 more than in 2010. About 85 percent of the vacancies require at least two-years grassroots work experience, up 15 percentage points from the previous year.The SACS also revealed that 100 positions were specially created for college graduates who had served in villages to encourage more college students to work in rural regions after graduation.Registration for this year's exams will start on Friday.
