SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A security guard at a bar in Little Italy was sentenced Friday to six years in state prison for shooting a patron during an argument outside the establishment.Dangelo Jeffrey, 24, pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of assault, discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon for the April 20 attack that began at the El Camino Bar, 2400 India St., according to Deputy District Attorney Mary Naoom.Around 2 that morning, Jeffrey got into an argument with the male victim and others, and made threats. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A young man who was seen being repeatedly struck by San Diego police officers in a widely viewed social-media video was sentenced to four years and four months in prison Friday for resisting arrest and unrelated robbery and burglary cases.Trenelle D. Cannon, 20, pleaded guilty last month to charges stemming from a video clip showing a group of officers punching him during a struggle on a South Bay roadside in early May. The 12-second video sparked public debate, with critics saying the officers used excessive force in arresting Cannon. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Officers found a man fatally wounded inside a vehicle in the Bay Terraces community of San Diego, a police lieutenant said Saturday.Officers discovered the vehicle off the road with no other vehicles around and it did not appear to have been involved in a traffic crash, San Diego Police Lt. Paul Conley said.Officers dispatched to the location a little before midnight in the 7000 block of Paradise Valley Road walked up to the vehicle and discovered a man behind the wheel suffering from a gunshot to the upper body, Conley said.Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, he said.The San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at 619-531-2293. 775

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who went on a South Bay crime spree that included shooting at a moving vehicle and ramming an occupied San Diego police vehicle during a pursuit was sentenced Thursday to 19 years in state prison.Alfonso Ayala Flores, 26, pleaded guilty earlier this year to charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and resisting arrest for a series of crimes last November that culminated in him driving toward officers who cornered him in a cul-de-sac and ramming a patrol car.One officer opened fire on the pickup truck Flores was driving, striking the truck, but not Flores.He was also given a separate 16-month sentence for an unrelated burglary case, but that term will be served concurrently with his 19-year prison term.The spree began with Flores carjacking a motorist's Ford F-150 pickup at the Frontier Motel in San Ysidro on Nov. 6. Deputy District Attorney Mary Naoom said that on the following day, Flores shot at an occupied vehicle.Two days later, he sped off when San Diego police spotted him driving the stolen truck in the 1900 block of Dairy Mart Road in San Ysidro. The suspect, who had a female companion in the truck with him, fled west, where he wound up at the end of a cul-de-sac in the Nestor neighborhood.As officers got out of their cars and shouted at him to halt, Flores made a U-turn and accelerated toward them, prompting one of the officers to open fire, police and prosecutors said.Naoom said Flores rammed the patrol car with the pickup as he sped away, with police again in pursuit. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A short-circuit on a power line near the intersection of Interstate 805 and state Route 905 knocked out electrical service to about 1,600 nearby homes and businesses Tuesday and sparked a small brush fire. The switch malfunction on a utility pole on Hawken Drive in Otay Mesa occurred shortly before 1 p.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The equipment failure sent melted materials dripping onto the ground, setting grass and other vegetation on fire, SDFRD spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to subdue the flames, which blackened about a half-acre of brushy terrain, Munoz said. No structural damage or injuries were reported. Utility crews expected to have power restored to the affected areas, which included pars of Nestor, Otay Mesa and San Ysidro, by early evening, SDG&E spokeswoman Jessica Packard said. 929
