SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The all-clear was given after a suspicious device forced the evacuation of a building at San Diego City College Monday. The device was reported Monday afternoon in or near Building A, according to the school. The building serves as administrative offices. The college says no classes were affected by the evacuation. The building, as well as a cafeteria will remain closed for the remainder of the day. 431

Front line workers will be first to be vaccinated, followed by long-term care facility residents and employees.Doses from the county's allotment were sent to UC San Diego Medical Center and Rady Children's Hospital on Monday and Tuesday.A separate batch of vaccines was sent to Naval Medical Center San Diego and Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton on Monday.The Department of Defense chose both locations as hubs where some service members will be vaccinated.In a statement released last week, the DOD outlined their vaccine distribution plans. They will follow the CDC guidelines and will prioritize those who provide direct medical care, followed by critical national security units, and then deployed forces.The vaccine arrival comes as military hospitals in San Diego are also seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Naval Medical Center San Diego has 16 ICU beds, but they are at 70% capacity. Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton’s four ICU beds are at 75%. 1574
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The journey has come to an end for hundreds of migrants seeking asylum in the U.S.A large caravan arrived in Tijuana within the last week and have waited until Sunday to cross the border into San Diego.Late Sunday afternoon, members of the caravan plan to turn themselves in to customs agents seeking asylum.Most of the roughly 400 migrants in the caravan are women and children who have been staying in shelters, seeking legal counsel before trying to cross the border.RELATED: Migrant caravan warned asylum may lead to separation from childrenBorder patrol agents released a statement Saturday saying several groups associated with the caravan have been illegally climbing a scrap metal border fence.The statement warned anyone with the caravan to “think before you act.” The Secretary of Homeland Security also said in a statement earlier this week that anyone seeking asylum “may be detained while their claims are adjudicated.”Protesters say the group is taking advantage of U.S. immigration laws. A group called San Diegans for Secure Borders plans to protest at Friendship Park.They say the migrants are unwelcome and that their claims for asylum are false. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The first of five "fee-free" days at America's national parks falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this month.Entrance to any of the country's more than 400 national parks is waived on Jan. 20 in honor of MLK's birthday, including at San Diego's Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma.Guests can take in panoramic views of downtown San Diego and the surrounding bay while learning about 16th century explorers and San Diego's discovery in 1542.
