They brought that tradition of bread here,” said Latham.Latham is the head of Bread at Tartine Bakery in San Francisco.Ever since San Francisco boomed in the mid 1800’s with the gold rush, the city has been a haven for the sour bakers. The tradition is alive and well at Tartine.What makes sourdough different than other bread? It’s this little thing called a starter.“It’s a paste of flour and water that’s inoculated with the right balance of yeast and bacteria to raise dough,” said Latham.Yup just mix a little flour and water and let it collect the natural bacteria in the air and you too can have your very own sourdough starter. And since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic people have.People at home have been making, feeding, and nurturing their own starter at home.“Hopped on the bandwagon during COVID, just like millions of people probably did. Kind of found some blogs and started from there but it’s been going since like April,” said TC Jamison, a home baker.Jamison started his starter six month ago when the lockdowns were in full swing. He’s been baking and feeding it ever since.“You’re dealing with something that’s alive, so it’s going to be different every time,” said Jamison.Yup, feeding it fresh flour and water every day, for six months. It’s a lot of work.“The starter has been going, the one that we use now for well over 20 years,” Latham explained.So Jamison has a little ways to go. Some bakeries in San Francisco have had an ongoing starter for more than 150 years.But Jamison has a pretty special goal for his starter."My daughter was born in June. I was pretty hell bent on keeping the starter going before she was born and then afterwards. So now I can always say, that’s been around since before you were born,” he said. That will go down in the dad joke hall of fame.At Tartine, they’ll continue to shape, fold, and flour their way into the fabric of San Francisco sourdough history.“You’re never done learning about bread. There’s always more to learn. There’s always things you can change, there’s infinite variables. The flour and the weather and you’re fermentation management, timing, temperature. Stormy Daniels' former manager, who helped broker her confidentiality agreement, is cooperating with the FBI as part of its probe of an arrangement she struck with Donald Trump's lawyer, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.Gina Rodriguez responded to a subpoena by handing over records to the FBI. Some of those documents pertain to the 2016 hush money agreement signed by Daniels and Michael Cohen, President Trump's personal attorney. Cohen signed the agreement on behalf of a shell company he owned known as Essential Consultants LLC, according to the source.Rodriguez has signed a confidentiality agreement that keeps her from talking about the Daniels deal with Cohen, the source said.In the documents Rodriguez handed over to the FBI, there is evidence that Daniels -- an adult film star whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford -- was working an initial deal with Cohen on October 10, 2016. Daniels was being represented in that deal by Rodriguez and Daniels' then-attorney Keith Davidson, according to the same source.As CNN previously reported, that deal fell through when Cohen failed to pay the money. Eighteen days later, the second deal was finalized by Daniels and Cohen.Around the same time negotiations with Cohen were going on behind the scenes, Daniels and her manager were shopping a story to several media organizations about Daniels' alleged affair with Trump a decade ago.Cohen has said that the President did not have a sexual relationship with Daniels. The Boston Athletic Association announced Wednesday that next year's Boston Marathon would be postponed "until at least the fall of 2021.”The race, which typically occurs on the third Monday in April, won’t happen because of the coronavirus pandemic.“With fewer than six months until Patriots’ Day and with road races prohibited until Phase 4 of the Massachusetts reopening plan, we are unable to host the Boston Marathon this coming April,” said Tom Grilk, C.E.O. of the B.A.A said in a press release. “By shifting our focus to a fall date, we can continue to work with stakeholders to adjust the in-person experience for runners and supporters alike. Prioritizing the safety of participants, volunteers, spectators, and community members, we continue to assess all elements of the race, including a potential reduced field size or a weekend date.”Organizers said they are working with government officials and COVID-19 Medical & Event Operations Advisory Group members to see when the 125th Boston Marathon can happen.The B.A.A. said they would announce a new date by the end of the year.This year’s marathon was held virtually back in September. 1160

Synthetic weed tainted with rat poison has made its way to Milwaukee and it’s been linked to at least three illnesses in the city in 24 hours. Dr. Jon Meiman with the state health department says the effects of the fake drug can be “unpredictable,” with side effects ranging from nausea to seizures and even death. "The synthetic cannabinoids that we're seeing here are causing severe bleeding, and that's very unusual,” Meiman said. The synthetic pot can be found at gas stations and other convenience stores sold under names like K2 or Spice. The drug is meant to minim the effects of marijuana but can be far more dangerous. "They work on the same parts of the brain that marijuana does, but they can have very different effects depending on the specific chemicals," Meiman said. The health department says it’s sent two people to the hospital in Milwaukee. In nearby Chicago, the poison-laced product is linked to three deaths. Health officials are trying to trace the source of the rat poison-synthetic pot.  1061

She wired 0 via Western Union to a website -- now gone -- called Best Mini Shnauzers.com.That was the end of the seller, and of her puppy dreams."I tried to text him numerous times after that," she said. "Called him, couldn't get through. That was the end of the communications. Nothing."Puppy scam worsens during pandemicThe puppy scam has been around for more than five years, but the BBB says this year it's getting worse because so many people want either a "pandemic puppy" or a holiday puppy.Sara Kemerer of the Better Business Bureau said real puppy photos get reposted at counterfeit websites."It's very easy for scammers to steal a video or picture of a pet from the internet to make the pet seem real," she said.But the pups are always out of town, and the seller will ask hundreds of dollars for shipping and insurance.Once you wire them the money, they and their ad disappear.How to protect yourselfSo what can you do? Kemerer says ask for video of the seller with the pup.
