WASHINGTON (AP) — Elizabeth Warren’s proposal to gradually move the country to a government-funded health care system has further inflamed the debate over “Medicare for All,” likely ensuring the issue will play a significant role in this week’s Democratic presidential debate.The Massachusetts senator announced Friday that her administration would immediately build on existing laws, including the Affordable Care Act, to expand access to health care while taking up to three years to fully implement Medicare for All. (KGTV) – Infamous horse jockey Patrick Valenzuela pleaded guilty in court to domestic abuse, admitting to hitting his girlfriend at Fidel’s Restaurant in Carlsbad in September.He’s one of the most decorated thoroughbred horse jockeys with more than 4,300 wins. In 1989 Valenzuela won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, a seven-time winner of the Breeders' Cup races.But he’s been sidelined on the track for personal and drug abuse problems and fined 28 times in his career.His California license was permanently revoked at one point. Prosecutors say he smacked his girlfriend in a jealous rage for hugging a bartender.In a surprise move, his girlfriend addressed the judge, asking him not to issue a protective order that would keep Valenzuela away from his girlfriend. Prosecutors say he grabbed his girlfriend’s cellphone and hit her face causing her ear to go numb.They also say he chased her to her car and beat on her windows and that she was afraid to let him in the vehicle. WASHINGTON (AP) — As coronavirus cases rise in more than half of the states, the Trump administration is urging the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.The administration’s high court filing Thursday came the same day the government reported that close to half a million people who lost their health insurance in the economic shutdown to slow the spread of COVID-19 have gotten coverage through HealthCare.gov.The administration’s legal brief makes no mention of the virus.Some 20 million Americans could lose their health coverage and protections for people with preexisting health conditions also would be put at risk if the court agrees with the administration. 716

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a man they say was acting suspicious outside an Islamic center in Vista in late March. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the man was seen taking pictures on the Tri-City Islamic Center on March 30. When someone at the center saw the man taking pictures, they invited him inside. When the man saw there were people inside the center, he took off running, deputies say. Witnesses describe the man as Hispanic in his late 20s, about five feet, seven inches tall with a lean or muscular build, short, dark hair and a blonde beard. He was last seen wearing a red hat, dark gray sports coat and blue jeans. Anyone who sees something suspicious is asked to call the department at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. The incident happened shortly after a fire was set at an Escondido Mosque on March 24. The fire, which caused minimal damage the building, was extinguished by members of the mosque.
