In the wake of the deadly school shooting in Florida last week, one gun shop owner has decided to act, and will no longer sell AR-15 rifles to people under age 21."I changed policy yesterday. So to buy a long gun, including an AR, you have to be 21 years old," Jason Cazes, from Washington state, told HLN's Carol Costello.Legally, people can buy rifles at 18 years old in Washington, just like in Florida. But you have to be 21 to buy a pistol."I would like to be proactive rather than reactive because the reactive solutions that we come up with don't work," Cazes said, explaining why he's not waiting for legislation to pass.Seventeen people were killed last Wednesday in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. It was the ninth-deadliest shooting in modern US history.Nikolas Cruz, 19, confessed to the shooting and is suspected to have obtained at least 10 firearms, all of them rifles.Investigators are trying to track the purchases, which Cruz appears to have made in the past year or so, according to a source briefed on the investigation. These are the victims of the Florida school shootingCazes, who is originally from Louisiana, told Costello he's lived on both sides of the political spectrum and believes that raising the age limit on AR-15s is a solution that both sides will accept."Currently the handgun age is 21. And it has an FBI check and a state check. But the long gun age, which includes ARs, is only an FBI check," he said."It doesn't have a state check, and the age issue is also another problem. So I would say let's meet in the middle and say let's get this age thing fixed. And put it into a bill."A firm supporter of the right to bear arms, Cazes made clear that the bill he's proposing should not touch ARs, which are legal, or high-capacity magazines. He told Costello he keeps an AR-15 in the trunk of his car."That's my weapon of choice for defending myself and my family," he said, adding, "There's no button we can push magically to get rid of all guns. Some people think that's some option we have, and it's not."Cazes, who has been a gun shop owner for more than 15 years, made one exception to his new rule."If you're on active duty or honorably discharged military, you would be exempt because you have been through boot camp and know how to be a man and use this gun."The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2018 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. It’s National Blood Donation Week and as countries around the world deal with the coronavirus pandemic, America is also suffering from a blood shortage.“We need 5,500 units or donations of blood everyday across our country,” said Brittany Calvert with Vitalant, one of the country’s oldest and largest nonprofit blood service providers.Helping try to fill that need are people like lifelong blood donor Karl Baines who donated blood at the Downtown Denver YMCA.“We waited a couple months until we felt things were safe but this is the second time we’ve given since COVID hit,” he said.Since COVID-19 hit, many blood drives have been canceled.“Typically, we partner with corporations, businesses and schools,” Calvert said. “Right now, they really can’t commit to host blood drives.”Calvert says with COVID-19 making blood drives much more difficult to hold, YMCAs across the country started helping by providing large indoor spaces that can accommodate social distancing and allow for blood to be collected safely.“They really stepped up and opened their doors,” she said. “We’re doing multiple blood drives a month in the YMCAs.”In addition to the blood drive, Vitalant is also testing for COVID-19 antibodies, a move questioned by some medical experts, but blood donor leaders say it’s well worth the investment.“We know that this is an experimental and investigational treatment,” Calvert said. “But hospitals want it and so we are doing everything that we can to provide them with what they need to support the patients that they are treating right now for COVID-19.”With bags of donated blood having a shelf life of about six weeks, Calvert is calling on more people to be like Baines and become a blood donor during this crisis. 1742

It seems the “chicken wars” between fast-food restaurants are heating up once again.Last week, McDonald’s introduced its new spicy chicken McNuggets, which will compete with Wendy’s spicy nuggets. Now, Shake Shack has entered the roost. The restaurant known for its burgers announced Tuesday that its Hot Chick’n will be back for a limited time starting Tuesday. The item has been on the menu twice before. Now it's back and “ready to throw down in the chicken sandwich category,” a representative for Shake Shack said. The spicy version of the restaurant’s Chick’n Shack sandwich is made with real chicken breast (no added hormones or antibiotics) that is slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The chicken is then dusted with a guajillo and cayenne pepper blend, topped with Shack-made cherry-pepper slaw and pickles, all served on a potato bun.Hot Chick’n is also returning with brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, made with the same guajillo and cayenne pepper dusting. All four Hot Chick’n items are available in two spice levels, hot and extra hot, and will be at Shake Shack locations nationwide, some exclusions may apply. Guests who order Hot Chick’n through the Shack App or order.shakeshack.com can get access to a third spice level, fire."When developing our Hot Chick’n menu, featuring the Hot Chick’n sandwich and brand new Hot Chick’n Bites, Hot Spicy Fries and Hot Spicy Cheese Fries, we wanted to make sure we launched them in an elevated way, inspired by our deep culinary roots and emphasis on premium ingredients," said Mark Rosati, Culinary Director at Shake Shack. 1718

In some ways, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyber Monday began weeks ago when online retailers began pushing holiday sales in mid-October. But forecasters are still projecting that Monday will be the biggest day of online sales ever recorded in the U.S.Online retailers are projected to sell .7 billion in goods on Monday, a figure that would represent year-to-year growth of 35%. Sales on Cyber Monday would outpace those made on both Thanksgiving and Black Friday.Several major retailers announced earlier this year that they would remain closed on Thanksgiving in the hopes of avoiding crowds, marking a stark change from recent years. In addition, the Associated Press reports that Black Friday crowds were thin across the country, as many Americans shopped online to avoid crowds. In fact, retailers like Walmart and Best Buy made Black Friday deals available online to limit the number of people in stores. However, Americans don't appear ready to slow down spending for Cyber Monday. Adobe Analytics predicts that Cyber Monday spending will break the billion for the first time in 2020. For context, the first time Americans spent billion on Cyber Monday came in 2012.Adobe also reports that 42% of online shopping will be done by smartphone this year — a year-over-year increase of 55%. 1314
