TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — New unredacted court documents reveal Aaron Glee Jr., who is accused in the murder of Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Salau and Vicki Sims, confessed to killing the young activist and community volunteer.The documents also detail how Sims and Glee knew each other and how all three of them briefly met on June 6.Probable cause documents state that when officers responded to Glee's home in the 2100 block of Monday Road on June 13, they found Vicki Sims' car stuck in the mud outside of the home. They say a sheet was placed over the back of the Toyota and the license plate was bent up, hiding the license plate number.When they went inside, they found 75-year-old Vicki Sims' body. Investigators say her arms and feet were tied up behind her.As they continued searching Glee's home, they found 19-year-old Oluwatoyin "Toyin" Salau's body. Documents say her body appeared to be "purposely" covered with leaves and other vegetation.According to documents, when officers spoke to Sims' family prior to the discovery of her body, they said that Sims "often prepared meals for 'Aaron'" and delivered them to his home."It was reported that 'Aaron,' who did not own his own vehicle, often obtained transportation from Sims," probable cause documents read.As police continued investigating, they learned that, about two hours before the bodies were discovered, Glee had bought a bus ticket to West Palm Beach. On June 14, Glee was detained by the Orlando Police Department at a Greyhound station.After complaining about having trouble breathing, Glee was taken to the hospital. That's where documents say he voluntarily confessed to the murders; once to officers who were guarding him and again to his mother in a phone call.When TPD officers interviewed him, Glee confessed to kidnapping and murdering Salau and Sims on different dates.Glee said that on June 6, he was at a bus stop on Apalachee Parkway when he met Salau. He said they talked for about an hour.During that time, he said Salau told him that she had been recently sexually assaulted and didn't have a permanent place to stay. After that, Glee agreed to go with Salau to his home so she could bathe and rest."Glee stated that he then placed a telephone call to Sims, and that she came and picked he and Salau up in her Toyota," documents read. According to investigators, Glee's story was corroborated by surveillance video.After Sims dropped them off, Glee said she left and Salau went inside the home to take a shower. After Salau got out of the shower, Glee said he "attempted to engage her in sexual activity."He told officers that Salau physically resisted him, biting him on the arm."Glee said he physically overpowered Salau... He was asked if he would characterize his actions as rape," investigators wrote in the documents. "Glee responded in the affirmative."Glee said that he then kept Salau inside the home for approximately three to five days. He told officers that he was heavily under the influence of alcohol during that time, so he was unsure exactly how much time had passed."Glee stated that he was aware he would be arrested and likely sentenced to prison if he allowed Salau to leave the residence," documents read. "Glee indicated he determined that his only course of action was to end her life."So, Glee said he tied her up in a way that made it difficult for her to breathe.Based on the evidence and Glee's confession, officers found probable cause to charge him with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of murder (second degree murder and premeditated murder), and one count of sexual assault.During a court appearance on Saturday, a judge ruled that Glee will be held in jail without bond.This story was originally published by staff at WTXL. 3747

Tall people are at a greater risk of cancer because they have more cells in their body, new research has suggested.A person's risk of developing cancer increases by 10 percent for every 10 centimeters (4 inches) they are over the average height, the study said, because they have more cells which could mutate and lead to cancer.Average height was defined in the study as 162cm (5 feet, 4 inches) for women and 175cm (5 feet, 9 inches) for men.The findings match with previous research, which has also connected height to an increased risk of developing a range of health problems including blood clots, heart problems and diabetes.Leonard Nunney, a professor of biology at the University of California Riverside, analyzed previous sets of data on people who had contracted cancer -- each of which included more than 10,000 cases for both men and women -- and compared the figures with anticipated rates based on their height.He tested the hypothesis that this was due to the number of cells against alternatives, such as possible hormonal differences in taller people, which could lead to an increased rate of cell division.A link was found between a person's total cell number and their likelihood of contracting cancer in 18 of the 23 cancers tested for, the study says.The research also found that the increase in risk is greater for women, with taller women 12 percent more likely to contract cancer and taller men 9 percent more likely to do so. Those findings matched with Nunney's predicted rates, using his models, of 13 percent for women and 11 percent for men.Colon and kidney cancer and lymphoma were among the types of cancer for which the correlation was strongest."We've known that there is a link between cancer risk and height for quite a long time -- the taller someone is, the higher the cancer risk," Georgina Hill from Cancer Research UK told CNN."What we haven't been sure of is why -- whether this is simply because a taller person has more cells in their body, or whether there's an indirect link, such as something to do with nutrition and childhood," added Hill, who was not involved in the study.She said the study provides good evidence of the "direct effect" theory that the total number of cells does indeed cause the link."The methodology is good - they took data from large studies, which is important, and they looked at lots of different categories of cancer."But she noted that the increase in risk of developing cancer is small compared to the effects that lifestyle changes can have."It was only a slightly higher risk and that there are more important actions that people can take to make positive changes, [such as] stopping smoking and maintaining a healthy weight," she said.Two of the types of cancer tested for, thyroid cancer and melanoma, were found to be more susceptible to an increase in risk than expected, and Nunney suggested in the study that other factors could be at play in those cases, such as geography."There are no obvious reasons for these exceptions, although the author speculates that cell turnover rates may come into play for melanoma," Dorothy C. Bennett, director of the Molecular and Clinical Sciences Research Institute in London told CNN. Bennett, who was not involved in the study, explained that pigment cells, the source of melanoma, divide and are replaced a little faster in taller people."But I cannot at present think of any reason why this [faster division] should be so, but nor any other clear reason for the higher correlation with height," Bennett said. 3548

Tempe, Arizona police are investigating a deadly crash involving a self-driving Uber vehicle early Monday morning.  The Uber vehicle was reportedly headed northbound when a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck. The woman, identified as 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.Tempe Police says the vehicle was in autonomous mode at the time of the crash and a vehicle operator was also behind the wheel. No passengers were in the vehicle at the time. An Uber spokesperson said they are aware of the incident and are cooperating with authorities.They released the following statement: "Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. We are fully cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this incident."Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi also acknowledged the incident on Twitter: 906
