MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minnesota judge has declined defense requests to move the trial of four Minneapolis police officers charged in George Floyd’s death, and also ruled that all four would be tried in a single proceeding.Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill ruled Thursday after defense attorneys argued that pretrial publicity had made it impossible for the four men to get a fair trial.They had also cited a Sept. 11 hearing in which the men and their attorneys were confronted by angry protesters outside the courthouse.Moving the trial away from Minneapolis to less diverse areas of the state likely would have affected the makeup of the jury.The officers being charged are Derek Chauvin, J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao. NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Opry Mills mall in Nashville announced plans to reopen Friday, one day after a shooting claimed the life of a 22-year-old man. The mall will reopen at 10 a.m. local time – fewer than 24 hours after a murder investigation began inside the building. There will be an enhanced Metro Nashville Police presence to ensure that shoppers and staff feel safe. The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m. local time Thursday inside a hallway near the Auntie Anne's pretzel shop, just across from Old Navy. The victim, Demarco Churchwell, was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he later died. Police said the gunman is 22-year-old Justin Golson. He's been charged with homicide. As soon as shots were fired, shoppers scattered, terrified after hearing those gunshots.  "I thought I was going to die, I thought I was never going to see my husband or daughter again,” one woman said. Churchwell and the alleged shooter apparently knew each other. One concern points to a recent Environmental Impact Report draft by the Air Force, suggesting the noise from the F-35 could make neighborhoods in Idaho uninhabitable.Captain Matthew Gregory, MCAS Miramar director of communications, says the document remains unapproved and un-finalized. In Miramar, they've conducted several studies on noise and environmental impact, ensuring it is safe to bring the jets near the surrounding neighborhoods."On take off the F-35 is 2 decibels louder than the F/A-18 however when they're coming in to land, or in their normal flight, an F-35 is 10 or 11 decibels quieter so that's going to help in the noise reduction of the base," Gregory said. He added, over the next 10 years as the F-35 phases out F/A-18s and AV-8B Harriers, the base will get slightly quieter."The engine noise itself has a higher pitch, we're going to notice it a lot more even if it's quieter," Gregory said. He explained the higher pitch is due to a single technologically advanced engine.Neighbors are concerned a single engine plane is more dangerous. Gregory said there's nothing to worry about."It can be more reliable, it's going to cut down on maintenance costs because you're working on one engine instead of two engines. (WTVF) — A 61-year-old man was arrested for violating a public health order that requires people to wear face masks in Nashville.According to his arrest affidavit, Joseph Bryant was issued a citation for not wearing a mask around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday. About an hour later, the police report states an officer saw Bryant again in the same area. Again, he wasn't wearing a mask.According to the arrest report, the officer said he chose to arrest Bryant because "of the obvious likelihood the offense would continue."Bryant was booked into the Davidson County Jail on 0 bond.As more and more states and municipalities adopt mask mandates, many have questioned how they will be enforced.
