The new program means that iPhone's home screen will look a bit different when it debuts later this year.iPhone users will now have the ability to set default email and browser apps for the first time. Previously, iPhone defaulted to using Apple's "Mail" and "Safari" apps when clicking on links in social media apps. Now, users can choose to browse and message on other companies' browsers and email clients.The home screen will also get an overhaul with a new "Library" grouping feature that will automatically group similar apps together on an additional home screen page. The feature is designed to allow users to find lesser-used apps more easily.iOS 14 will also introduce a new "Picture in Picture" feature that allows an iPhone user to watch videos while browsing other apps.The new operating system also makes some changes to the popular Memoji feature, including the ability to give an avatar a coronavirus mask.New chips in MacBooksIn an announcement that was widely expected, Apple announced Monday that all of its products would be built with computer chips made in-house. While mobile Apple products and Apple TV devices are already made with chips produced in-house, MacBooks previously ran on Intel's computer chips. Moving forward, Apple will begin using its own chips in thier laptop computer.Translate appApple unveiled a new smartphone app that will provide real-time translation between two people speaking different languages.Unlocking a car with an iPhoneApple announced several updates to its "CarPlay" app, which allows iPhones to communicate with certain car models. Among the updates is a feature that will iPhone users the ability to unlock and start their cars from their phones. The first car to be equipped with the feature will be the BMW 2021 BMW 5-series. Key privileges can also be sent through Apple's message app and can be revoked at any time. 2185

An online movement is raising awareness about the discrimination some high school students face at private and prep schools.One of many social media pages highlighting the issue is Black at Lovett. The organizers are two alumni who have taken submissions from students, parents and faculty, and share their experiences at the The Lovett School anonymously. Some of the stories go back decades.“I guess one of the things that was kind of surprising, but also we all knew what was going on, was that we all shared a lot of the same stories and a lot of the same experiences with the same students, the same administrators, the same teachers,” said Allison Burns, co-creator of Black at Lovett.The alumni have worked together using experiences from their current jobs to offer policy recommendations to Atlanta school and the community.“We want to make this better for future black students who attend this school, and that's the driving force behind this and why we want this to be an effort of love, a labor of love in some ways,” said Ashley Jeffrey, co-creator of Black at Lovett.Another page, True Colors of Columbia, highlights stories from Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York. The co-creators just graduated and echo what they say needs to be done to help the next generation at these institutions.“How many more discussions with the administration, petitions, and emails and meetings do we need to have until kids aren't being told that they're going to be lynched?” asked Lauren Gloster, co-creator of True Colors of Columbia.While grateful for the education, the girls say they've felt the need to step in to help peers better understand racial differences. They're also worried current students might not speak up for fear of losing scholarships.“We all felt very compelled to not only create a safe platform where students like us could share their experiences and their stories but could also feel a sense of unity and community as well,” said Imani Camara, co-creator of True Colors of Columbia.We reached out to both schools.Lovett sent us a statement saying they don't want anyone to feel silenced due to their identity. An Uber driver in Arizona said he pulled up to give a ride Easter morning and ended up with an AR-15 assault rifle in his face. Edward Martinez said two men called for a ride and while he waited at the curb, a third man came out of the house with no shirt and a gun. "He points it at me and says, 'call 9-1-1,"' said Martinez. Not knowing what was happening, Martinez started dialing and talking to the 9-1-1 dispatcher, and the guy with the gun went back inside. In the meantime, he said the two riders got in his car and told him not to worry about the guy with the gun. About that time, the man with the gun returned. "That's when he put a round in the chamber," said Martinez. "The [passenger] door was open... and then he had the weapon, it was about [half way] in the car, and I just took off."Martinez drove to a Quick Trip. He said his passengers tossed something out the window on the way and disappeared when he parked to wait for El Mirage police. An El Mirage officer ended up arresting the armed man, 25-year-old Nicholas Brasseur. Police searched his home and wrote in the police report that they found drugs and 25 AR-15 assault rifles.  "My profession is manufacturing AR-15s," Brasseur told the court at his initial appearance. The judge informed him that he would not be allowed to continue working with weapons or be in possession of any weapons while awaiting a resolution to the charges, which include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possessing or using a weapon during a drug offense.       Martinez said he reported the incident to Uber but has not received a followup call. "I'm missing work. Where's any concern? What can we do to help you? Do you need to see a counselor? Or any of that kind of stuff," said Martinez. Meanwhile, he says he doesn't know if he'll ever drive again. "Not today, not the next day," said Martinez. "Why would I want to put my life [at risk] and lose my life. I can't."An Uber spokesperson told Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix they've banned all the people involved from the Uber app and will co-operate with police.  The spokesperson said they're glad Martinez is OK and plan to follow up with him soon.  2268

ANEHEIM, Calif. (KGTV) -- Disney officially announced Tuesday that the park's latest venture, 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,' will open in the summer of 2019.Disney previously announced that the land would open in 2019, but it was unclear exactly when guests would be able to explore the new area. Disneyland guests will be the first to enjoy the land. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge won't open at Disney World in Florida until late fall of 2019.The park says the Star-Wars themed land is the largest singe-themed land expansion ever undertaken by the company. As part of the announcement, Disney released a new sneak peak of the land.
