SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- If you're feeling a little behind on your sleep schedule, Wednesday is your day to catch up! February 28 is National Public Sleeping Day. Don't take it too far though, you might get in trouble if you nap at work! There are different types of naps, according to nationaldaycalendar.com. "The Power Nap is approximately 10 to 20 minutes long and can give a boost of energy to get us through the rest of the day," the website writes. "It also doesn’t leave us drowsy like some longer naps might and will also allow us to fall asleep at a decent time at night."Our Scripps Digital Producer created the above note for you to take to work or school. It probably won't work...but it least it will make you smile. Good luck catching up on zzz's!   802

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Local groups including the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, are pushing for the City of San Diego to draft up and pass an ordinance that excludes certain zoning policies. "We're not asking to spend billions of dollars and build something, we're saying change the zoning. They have the prerogative, it's under their jurisdiction, we're reminding them there are issues at stake and those issues are communities to this day that are segregated," said Ricardo Flores, executive director of LISC.Flores says the same areas that were identified back in 1930 by San Diego banks as low-income areas are still falling under that category today. Additionally, areas outside of those remain zoned for single-family homes, keeping the lower income families from moving in. "So, what we’re effectively saying is, if you can't buy a single-family home in Kensington, then you can't live in Kensington. But, that’s not the truth; the truth is Kensington is zoned one thing, single family, and we need to expand that zoning." A representative at the rally from Chicano Federation says, "We are tired of the continuation of policies masked as zoning when in reality they are policies of segregation." Meantime, Borre Winkle, CEO and president of the Building Industry Association of San Diego told 10News, "The American dream is not to live in an apartment, the American dream is still to live in a single-family dwelling unit no matter how big it is".Winkle says getting rid of single family zoning isn't the solution. "For us, were totally on board with having multi family in a single-family zone, but we think it's going to run into a lot of neighborhood opposition." 1688

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Marty Coyne snags the same prime spot at Campland on the Bay every Fourth of July weekend. He parks his massive RV right across from the water."Wouldn't trade it in for any other place to stay in the summer," he said Friday. "It's beautiful here, safe here, the grandkids can run free and have a great time."This year - however - the celebration is quite a bit different - due the outbreak of Covid 19.Campland on the Bay, on Mission Bay's north end, is like many hotels along San Diego's coastline. It's not totally booked.Elvin Lai, who owns the Ocean Park Inn in Pacific Beach, said he was booked in the high 60 percents at a time when the hotel is usually full. "It doesn't mean that I won't get last minute bookings but we're used to being sold out for the month of July months in advance, so it's different."On Friday at the campland, the mood was festive, but the activities were limited - the skate park and basketball courts were taped off. There won't be any bands for outdoor entertainment, and indoor dining is disallowed.Campland on the Bay also placed yellow cones on the beach to give people a clear path to the water. It's also requiring all tents to be spaced out by eight feet. Masks are required in public areas, and rangers are carrying around extra.Still, not every visitor was wearing a mask."Everybody doesn't follow it," said Barry Homer, who is staying on the grounds with his wife Cindy. "It'a always a problem everywhere in the world, for lots of reasons."Hotels and Campland are still open to last minute reservations."We anticipate it's going to be be like this no more than today and tomorrow, and then it'll go down to quiet as people go back to their normal lives," said Ahmed Aitlahcen, the campland's general manafger. The Auto Club predicts 107 million residents of the Pacific Coastal states will take trips this summer. That's down 17 percent from 2019. 1916

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Inclement weather beginning Monday and lasting through Thursday will bring cooler temperatures and rain to San Diego County amid a busy travel season. The first of a series of storms is set to arrive Monday, bringing rain and snow to the county. A second storm is due to bring another round of moisture Christmas night through Thursday. Between the two storm systems, light showers will occur, according to the National Weather Service. The first round of storms are forecast to dump as much as an inch of rain along the coast and in the mountains. RELATED: Check your San Diego County Forecast | Holiday traffic mapSnow levels will be between 5,500 and 6,000 feet through Monday, falling to near 5,000 feet early Tuesday. Snow accumulations between one and three inches are expected for elevations between 5,000 and 6,000 feet. Another storm arriving Christmas night and lasting through Thursday shows similar precipitation amounts, according to model data. The agency says the second storm is colder, which means it could have a greater impact in the mountains, including through the Cajon pass and I-8 across the San Diego County mountains. 1172
