SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Chula Vista City Councilman Steve Padilla says he's tested positive for COVID-19.Padilla, who represents Chula Vista's District 3, made the announcement in video Saturday that was published on his Facebook page."After recently experiencing symptoms, I was diagnosed as being positive for the COVID-19 virus, also known as the coronavirus," he said.Padilla appeared in good spirits as he told viewers that he was doing "very well" and "feeling well."In a follow up statement, he described having a fever, body aches, headaches, chills, that "came on very rapidly." He noted he had come into contact with friends, colleagues, and the public over the last week."I’m in close coordination with County Public Health officials who are taking all precautions to ensure the health of people I’ve been in contact with," he said.He was recently in Santa Cruz County where he was conducting a hearing as California Coastal Commissioner."I want to remind everyone to keep a safe distance, wash hands, and look out for the elderly most at risk," he said.Padilla has previously served as Mayor of Chula Vista from 2002-2006, and is a former officer and detective with the Chula Vista Police Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Court documents are giving a glimpse into the past of the 26-year-old accused of killing his parents and sister in a Logan Heights house fire.Wilber Romero is accused of starting the fire at the home on the 3100 block of Clay Street around 4:30 a.m. October 13. 44-year-old Jose Romero died at the scene while his wife and daughter, 46-year-old Nicolasa Maya-Romero and 21-year-old Iris Romero died at the hospital in the days following the blaze.The family’s 23-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son were also hospitalized. Wilber is facing several charges in the fire, including first-degree murder, arson and attempted first-degree murder. Court documents show it wasn’t the first time he allegedly targeted his family. He reportedly attacked his father with a brick and rocks and damaged his car in September of 2018. The incident prompted a police standoff that ended when police shot bean bags at Wilber and released a police dog, documents show. The documents go on to state Wilber was in a car accident when he was 6-years-old and that he has suffered from a learning disability since the crash. According to the documents, Wilber also struggled with drug addiction. 1203

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Car owners at a senior community in University City woke up to a messy surprise Tuesday morning. Louise, who asked 10news not to identity her, went to her SUV which was parked on Kantor Street, and her heart sank."I walked to my car and saw that the window had been burst.  It was terrifying," said Louise.Glass was everywhere and inside her vehicle was another mess.  Her glove compartment had been tossed, her insurance and registration scattered.  Nothing was missing, but Louise is nervous."Very afraid of the personal information now they know what address I'm actually at," said Louise.It appears someone took a bat or something like that to bash the window, before unlocking their passenger door.  Louise is not the only victim.  Nearby there were more vehicles hit, some 14 in all.  The windows on those vehicles were also shattered.  Some items were stolen and the repairs will cost hundreds of dollars for each incident."A lot of people on fixed incomes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At least nine parked vehicles has their windows smashed with a bat in Oak Park early Monday morning. The vandalism happened on the 5600 block of Redwood Street around 1 a.m. Car windows along Redwood Street and Thorn Street were smashed. A witness told 10News he was returning home when he noticed shattered pieces of glass on the ground and spotted two suspects trying to get away in a white car with no license plates. The man says he followed the suspects down Thorn Street before they got away. Police are searching for the suspects and say nothing appears to have been stolen from the vehicles. 628

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Authorities in San Diego have confiscated twelve guns from campuses across the county since the anonymous hotline “Students Speaking Out” was implemented in 1999.That’s according to Dep.
