SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer signed off Thursday on his .3 billion 2020 budget previously approved by the super majority of the city council.The budget funds the largest infrastructure investment in San Diego’s history and includes more funding for homelessness programs, road repairs, tree trimming services and housing reform.Faulconer appeared to be most excited about the expansion of the Clean San Diego initiative, which aims to clear debris from across the city.The mayor announced during his signing ceremony that million will go toward the expansion of the CSD program, and more crews will be hired to clean up areas citywide 24 hours a day, seven days a week.“We’re restoring pride back in our neighborhoods with every cleanup job, and now we’re investing more resources into ‘Clean SD’ so we can do even more for our communities,” said Faulconer.Funding for the program was more than doubled from Fiscal Year 2019 after Faulconer requested an additional .5 million for its budget.Since the program started in May 2017, more than 3,600 tons of debris have been removed from neighborhoods, canyons, and the San Diego River.Other efforts in the program include an increase in street sweeping in the East Village, sanitizing sidewalks, and graffiti removal. 1302

Refrigerator and freezer doors should also be kept closed and all unnecessary lighting should be turned off, health and safety permitting.The company suggested customers also reduce their water use due to the need for electricity to pump and process water. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Responding to the aftermath of a disaster is a drill the San Diego Humane Society knows well.Just weeks ago the nonprofit’s Emergency Response Team was on the front lines of Hurricane Florence, helping over 100 animals; including pigs, cows, and peacocks.Lt. John Peaveler with SDHS Humane Law Enforcement was part of the team that responded to Florence.RELATED: San Diego Humane Society helps rescue labradors from Florence flooding“I got into disasters through my experience of living through disasters, and helping my community recover from those," said Peaveler. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Gas & Electric this week turned off power to tens of thousands of customers due to high wind conditions, but almost three days into the shutoff, some customers say they’re running out of options and need their power back now.East County resident Cynthia Chisum told ABC 10News, “It isn’t fun. We’ve lived in this house for 45 years. So, I know about power outages. But we’ve never had one of these preemptive power outages.”Chisum isn’t new to red flag warnings and what that comes with, as precautions are taken to make sure everyone stays safe.But this time Chisum is running out of options. Her family has been relying on candles, lamps, and battery powered equipment to make it through. Their big problem is the freezer -- without any power, their food is close to rotting.“We have a freezer full of fish that my husband caught during a fishing trip and we hate for all that to go spoiled,” Chisum said.Chisum said it was windy Wednesday night, but since then it’s been calm. That’s why she believes her power should be restored quickly.SDG&E posted an update on their website laying out their restoration plans, saying “crews are conducting visual inspections of each impacted circuit to determine whether there were any wind related damage before power can be restored.”The utility also said crews are looking for safety hazards such as downed lines, debris or tree branches caught in power lines. If no damage is found, power can be restored quickly.For those impacted by the outages, SDG&E has set up drive-thru resource centers where customers can get water and snacks or charge devices. 1646
