TEXAS — A 78-year-old man has confessed to 90 killings, and investigators are saying he could be one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history.Samuel Little is currently being held in a Texas prison. Investigators have confirmed 34 cases so far, and the FBI said in a news release Tuesday that more are pending confirmation. The killings Little has claimed responsibility for include a black female in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974 and a white female in Covington, Kentucky in 1984, according to the FBI. Little said he met that second victim in Columbus, Ohio and disposed of her body somewhere in Northern Kentucky. Neither of those confessions had been corroborated by law enforcement as of Nov. 15.The women Little confessed to killing turned up dead between 1970 and 2005 in states from coast to coast, according to the FBI.  863

TEMPERANCE, Mich. — A high school football coach has lost his job and now a mom and dad are calling for a priest to be fired after events at their son’s funeral.Eighteen-year-old Maison Hullibarger died on December 4. All A's,” said Linda Hullibarger, Maison’s mom.It is hard for his parents to talk about even the good times: How Maison loved his family, enjoyed eating the home cooked meals his mom made, camping and football.“He was strong. He was confident. He enjoyed life,” said Jeff Hullibarger, Maison’s dad .Everyone who knew and loved Maison is trying to come to terms with why he took his own life December 4. 810

TEMPE, Ariz. — An Arizona woman said a man posing as a Lyft driver tried luring her into his car. Around 9 p.m. Saturday, Bradie Trippi was waiting to be picked up in a parking lot in Tempe, Arizona. The Lyft app showed her driver was a minute away when a man in a gold Infiniti sedan pulled up next to her, she said. “He says, ‘I’m your Lyft’ and then took a phone, flashed it in my face,” Trippi told KNXV. She said the man showed her the passenger app — not the driver app — and the letter “f” of the “Lyft” emblem on his car was backward. Given the fact the man did not match the photo of her driver or description of her driver’s car, Trippi declined to get in the car. “He got aggressive,” she said. “Told me to get in the car, he’s gonna kill me, called me the ‘b word’, started yelling the ‘f word’ at me — I got kind of scared.”When her actual Lyft driver arrived, Trippi said the man sped off. Lyft and Uber spokespeople told KNXV that passengers should always check to make sure the photo of their driver, description of the vehicle and license plate match up before getting inside. Passengers should ask open-ended questions to their driver, like “who are you here to pick up?” Instead of “Are you here to pick up [name]?”Trippi and her actual Lyft driver described the imposter driver as a bald, African-American man with an accent. Tempe police said there have been no other recent reports matching that description.  1479

Tara Batista spent a week in the hospital after visiting one of her favorite spas for a pedicure. Now she's tethered to a picc line for six weeks and under the daily care of a home health nurse.Batista, who sings at Puerto Rican festivals, says the ordeal has turned her life upside down emotionally, physically and economically.Tampa-based WFTS asked if there was anything different about this pedicure and Batista said she told the woman working on her feet to ease up a bit because it felt like the instruments were digging too far into her skin.Batista says she began to feel weak hours after leaving Nail Image in Tampa. By the next day she experienced extreme fatigue and pains began shooting up her leg.A day and a half later family members drove Batista to the emergency room when part of her foot turned black and she could not stand on her left leg. Doctors diagnosed her with a severe infection. Batista underwent surgery and remained in the hospital for a week. WFTS obtained her medical records which cite a deep injury triggered by a bacterial infection on her left big toe.WFTS took the hospital report to Nail Image along with the receipt from her pedicure. The owner refused to comment. There is no conclusive proof that the pedicure caused the infection.Lee Timberlake instructs students at the Artistic Nails and Beauty academy in Tampa. She spends 155 hours of a 240 hour curriculum teaching sanitizing and disinfecting procedures.Timberlake who has taught nail technicians for 10 years says instruments should be scrubbed then placed into a disinfectant between every customer. Shortcuts can lead to injury. 1656

The AARP launched new ads, demanding Congress take action to help older Americans to find affordable medication. It’s a problem David Mitchell is experiencing. He is fighting blood cancer, and treatment does not come cheap.“The drugs I use right now that are keeping me alive, keeping the cancer at bay, cost 0,000 a year,” he says. “That’s retail price.”Mitchell pays for expensive, supplemental insurance so he can afford his medicine, but the sticker shock for cancer medication became an awakening.“The experience as a cancer patient brought me face-to-face with a fundamental truth, and that is drugs don’t work if people can’t afford them,” Mitchell says. “And all over the country, people are struggling with high-drug costs. They’re cutting pills in half, they’re skipping doses, they go into debt, they declare bankruptcy.”David started an organization called Patients for Affordable Drugs. He’s on a mission to lower prescription prices. This week, he’s getting help from one of the largest nonprofits in the country.AARP launched a new campaign to pressure Congress not to make any changes to a bill they passed earlier this year that lowered drug costs for seniors.“AARP is saying absolutely not. This is wrong. We’re going to protect that deal that reduced costs for Medicare beneficiaries, and we’re not gonna give Pharma a billion bailout,” Mitchell says.Healthcare was a top issue during the midterm elections, and Mitchell hopes the new ads will put pressure on the new Congress to do more.“In the midterm elections, politicians ran on a promise to lower drug prices, and we believe that voters can Congress a mandate to do it,” Mitchell says. 1678
