SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The San Diego City Attorney's Office has filed charges against a man accused of harassing multiple women at a Mission Valley shopping center.Three misdemeanor charges were filed against Orlando Chavez of San Diego, including two for false imprisonment, and one for criminal assault and battery. The City Attorney's Office says Chavez held some women against their will by climbing under their cars and refusing to come out.City officials say Chavez would approach most of his victims in a shopping center at 10330 Friars Rd. In one instance, he reportedly grabbed one woman by the arm and told her, “You can flatten me out any time.” The City Attorney's official initially indicated the incidents took place at Westfield Mission Valley, but later said that was incorrect.In another instance, he reportedly followed a woman into her workplace, and approached another victim as she waited to pick up her children at school. City officials say police investigated him for stalking that woman for nearly two years and slashing the tires of her husband’s car."Everyone has the right to feel safe when going to work, shopping, or picking up their children at school," City Attorney Mara Elliott said. "As City Attorney, I take seriously threatening and harassing behaviors like this and will hold accountable individuals who endanger the safety of any San Diegan."Investigators added that Chavez, 72, has a history of crawling under women's vehicles to prevent them from leaving dating back to 2018.In multiple incidents, he was seen driving a white Chevrolet truck, with a personalized license plate reading HINUF. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The number of San Diegans who spend at least 90 minutes on their daily commute grew nearly 15% over the last decade, according to a recent analysis.Apartment List reports as San Diego County's workforce grew 10.8% from 2009 to 2017, "super commuters" (commuting 90 minutes or more one way) grew 14.9%. Overall though, the share of San Diego's workforce who endure a super commute is only 0.1%.The study showed the trend is much worse in other California counties like San Francisco (110.4% growth since 2009) and Los Angeles (up 22.3% since 2009).Other areas of the state located just outside San Francisco also saw large increases, like Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, which saw a 101.8% and 126.5% increases in super commute workforce, respectively.Rural counties were also more likely to endure a long commute, like Mono County, Calif., which saw a 1166.7% increase."Beyond the super commuters who drive from distant exurbs to work in the downtown offices of pricey superstar cities, we also see high rates of super commuting in some counties that are much closer to the urban core," the study said. "This is evidence of the large number of super commuters who rely on public transit. Super commuting is also common in certain pockets of rural America, particularly those with active drilling and mining industries."Extraction and construction jobs were the most likely to have the longest commute times. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Unified School District and School Board President Kevin Beiser are holding a news conference Wednesday to discuss student safety in light of the Parkland shootings.The school officials will explain the district's plan to address the nationwide student-led walkout to protest government inaction to curb gun violence. President Beiser will also discuss a resolution he brought forth at Tuesday's Board of Education meeting demanding action from state and federal officials to reduce access to certain firearms. During the news conference, officials asked lawmakers in Sacramento to implement a 10 percent tax on firearms in California to help fund school safety programs. Watch the news conference in the player below:  785

Throughout the day, both Democrats and Republicans repeated the same points over and over again. Political analysts say that’s only expected to continue. “The president used the power of his public office to obtain an improper personal political benefit at the expense of America's national security,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi kicked off the debate, summing up the argument to impeach President Donald Trump. RELATED: Rallies being held around San Diego County ahead of impeachment vote against TrumpRepublican Doug Collins of Georgia quickly fired back, calling a political rush job. “To the clock and calendar, facts don't matter. The promises to the base matter, and today is a promise kept for the majority,” Collins said. The speeches continued for hours, Democrats and Republicans each taking a minute or two to state their case. Very rarely did either party directly respond to each other. “You are not going to convince the person next to you. They are not your audience,” said Thad Kousser, UC San Diego Political Analyst. Kousser says the way this is set up is purely for show. Different representatives are trying to reach their constituents, who may not be watching live. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Padres made another trade on Monday, this time acquiring relief pitcher Taylor Williams from the Seattle Mariners just before Major League Baseball’s trade deadline.MLB.com Padres beat writer AJ Cassavell confirmed the Friars picked up the 29-year-old Williams in exchange for a player to be named later.Williams has a 1-1 record on the season with a 5.93 ERA and six saves.Ironically, Williams was the losing pitcher in the Padres’ wild comeback win over the Mariners on Aug. 27. In that game, with Seattle up 7-3, Williams got two quick outs before giving up four runs to blow the save.
