The accident happened on Campo Road."It looked like the truck got t-boned by a car and flipped on its side," one of the technicians told 10News.For Kyle Hester and Anthony Ramirez, it was a day they will never forget."Working and something crazy happened, you'll never forget it it’ll always be a story to tell," Ramirez said.Dashboard cameras installed in their work truck weeks ago caught the entire incident on camera."It all happened in a matter of seconds," said Ramirez.Hester and Ramirez pulled up to the crash before firefighters and paramedics were there. Hester grabbed the fire extinguisher from the back of their work truck to try to keep the car from catching fire. Ramirez told 10News, "I would consider Kyle a hero." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hundreds of thousands of San Diego County workers are facing the prospect of fewer hours, lower paychecks, and even job loss.The workers are in the retail, leisure, and hospitality fields, which in all employs more than 350,000 workers in the region. The squeeze comes as restrictions increase related to the coronavirus, including a 30-day travel ban from Europe, a county ban on events of 250 or more people, and cancellations of major conventions. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Hoteliers across San Diego are seeing a significant loss of business from mass cancellations as efforts continue to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. The San Diego Convention Center Corp. reports five conferences have either been canceled or postponed, meaning upwards of 43,000 people would not be coming to San Diego and spending money locally. "The hotel industry has seen a significant drop in business, a significant impact on the workforce," said Namara Mercer, who chairs the San Diego Hotel Motel Association. "Anecdotally the shifts are being cut, people aren’t going to work if occupancy is not high."LIST: San Diego events, schools that have changed plans due to the coronavirusAs conferences cancel, large convention hotels downtown are finding themselves with hundreds, if not thousands, of unexpected empty rooms. That can be costly also to other hotels. "What do they do? They reduce their rates - the big convention hotels - and then they start taking away business from all of us who are in outlying areas," said Bob Rauch, CEO of RAR Hospitality, which owns three San Diego County hotels and manages nine others.Rauch said cancellations were up 15 percent last week, and he expects that to increase to 25 percent this week. He says he expects it to peak next week at 35 percent before he expects things to calm down. As of now, he has not cut staff hours, but he said things could change if the loss of business continues to persist. "If this worsens over the next couple of weeks, we will create some kind of shared pain program," said Rauch, adding that it would likely involve cutting hours across the board so no employees are laid off. The term "mega" gets thrown around quite a bit to describe scale, but in this case, it truly fits.Video captured Sunday shows a "megapod" of thousands of "common dolphins" off San Diego's coast, estimated to be of about 2,500 dolphins.RELATED: Humpback whale feeding frenzy off San Diego's coastDomenic Biagini, a photographer for San Diego Whale Watch, said pods of 25 to 200 dolphins are common.
