SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- A woman was arrested after she allegedly threw a bag full of vomit at St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City.West Valley police say Shaynell Pamela Payne, 25, entered the hospital's emergency room Tuesday night. After her arrival, Payne allegedly became argumentative and combative with the hospital staff.After Payne threw up in the emergency room, staff members handed her towels to clean up the vomit. When she threw up a second time in a bag, Payne reportedly became agitated when asked to calm down and threw the bag of vomit at a nurse.According to a police report, Payne attempted to leave the hospital after striking the nurse and assaulting other members of the medical staff.A police officer attempted to arrest Payne, who tried to grab the officer's hands and pull away. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A former paralegal specialist for the San Diego division of the FBI was sentenced Monday to 24 months in prison for embezzling nearly 0,000 in government funds.Lynn M. Morris, 56, who pleaded guilty in March to one count of embezzlement of government property, was also ordered by U.S. District Judge Larry Burns to pay 8,000 in restitution."Lynn Morris capitalized on her position at the FBI to line her own pockets with stolen government funds," said Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department's Criminal Division. "This conviction demonstrates the Department of Justice's commitment to investigating and prosecuting government employees who abuse their authority. Individuals who violate the public trust will be held accountable."Between July 2014 and November 2016, Morris embezzled 9,821 that belonged to the United States and converted the funds for her own personal use, according to documents submitted in connection with her plea.The funds were in an account owned by the FBI San Diego Division's Asset Forfeiture Unit, where Morris was a paralegal specialist and the AFU's designated coordinator.The court found that Morris also embezzled ,010 from an additional AFU account and stole ,351 from FBI evidence rooms.Morris admitted that to convert government funds to her own use, she used her knowledge and position within the FBI to withdraw cash from the AFU's account undetected and deposited portions of the stolen proceeds into her personal checking account. 1545

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 40-year-old man was shot and wounded while riding his bicycle early Saturday morning in Logan Heights.The shooting was reported at 1:20 a.m. in the 2900 block of Marcy Avenue, said San Diego police Sgt. Michael Tansey.The victim was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk westbound on Marcy Avenue when someone inside a black Jeep Cherokee that was parked along the north side of the street exited the passenger side and fired several rounds at the victim, Tansey said.The bicyclist was struck twice by the gunfire and fled on his bicycle. He rode into a fast food restaurant in the area of 29th Street and National Avenue, where he was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds, Tansey said.The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his buttocks and left lower leg, Tansey said.The gunman was described as Hispanic, in is mid 20s, wearing a black shirt and dark pants, according to Tansey. 935

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 17-year-old boy was pistol whipped and shot in the leg by a man who also snatched the child's cellphone Saturday morning in the Grantville community of San Diego.The teenager was talking on his cellphone in the 6100 block of Decena Drive when he was approached by the suspect at 4 a.m., who demanded his cellphone, said Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department.The victim refused and was pistol whipped and then shot in the leg. The suspect then fled the scene with the child's cellphone, Martinez said. The boy suffered a laceration to the head and a shattered femur. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital.The suspect was about 6-foot, 4-inches tall with a heavy build. SAN DIEGO (AP) — A former supervisor in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has been convicted in connection with a green card fraud scheme that bilked immigrants out of millions of dollars.Johnny Martin was convicted in San Diego federal court Friday of making a false statement to a federal agent. He faces up to five years in prison.The U.S. attorney's office says Martin passed confidential information from law enforcement databases to crooks who posed as Homeland Security agents and conned more than 100 immigrants into paying exorbitant fees for green cards they never received.When the FBI interviewed Martin in 2017, he denied passing on information. However, prosecutors say there's no evidence Martin knew the information was being used for a con.Three men involved in the scam have pleaded guilty. 823
