A woman who was caught on camera calling 911 dispatchers on a Black bird watcher in New York City’s Central Park will face charges.The Manhattan District Attorney announced Monday his office has initiated a prosecution of Amy Cooper for falsely reporting an incident.Cooper was walking her dog in the park in May and was seen on camera having a confrontation with a Black man, who was birdwatching at the time. The man, Christian Cooper (no relation to Amy Cooper) told Amy Cooper that by not putting her dog on a leash in that section of the park, she was in violation of park rules.In the cell phone video taken by Christian Cooper, Amy Cooper is heard talking to 911 dispatchers and telling them a Black man was threatening her life. ALPINE (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a collision with a truck on a rural East County road.The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Japatul Valley Road, near Bell Bluff Truck Trail in the Alpine area, according to the California Highway Patrol.The motorcyclist died at the scene of the accident, which left the two-lane roadway blocked into the early evening, the CHP reported.The victim's name was not immediately available. 459

Although four people were killed, and 10 others were wounded by a gunman targeting a Northern California elementary school on Tuesday, authorities said the incident could have been more tragic.According to Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston, when school administrators heard gunshots ringing out nearly 1/4 mile from the school, the school immediately went into lockdown mode without the prompting of police. A white van drove onto a busy Toronto sidewalk, and struck dozens of pedestrians, killing 10 and wounding 15, Toronto Police officials said on Monday. Later in the day, police said that Alek Minassian allegedly targeted the crowd of pedestrians. Police were called to the area of Yonge Street at Finch Avenue around 1:30 p.m. local time after the van fled from the scene. Police have since shutdown the area, and blocked off several streets. Authorities later caught up to the van and its driver.Canadian news agency the CBC reported that the van's driver is in custody.Video from the incident showed several ambulances taking away victims on stretchers from the scene of the incident. Stephen Powell, district chief for Toronto Fire, said that targeted pedestrians for up to one mile. The CBC has reported that part of Toronto's subway service has been shutdown. The area is in the North York neighborhood of Toronto, which is several miles north of Downtown.
