SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police identified Tuesday the officer involved in a shooting in Little Italy Saturday.Several witnesses flagged down a patrol car driving at 1300 India Street about 6:45 p.m. to let the officer know about a man who was not wearing a shirt and acting belligerently.The SDPD report indicated Officer Anthony Bueno found the man, Brent Zadina, on the hood of a car, yelling at the driver.RELATED: Officer Bueno has history of conflictsZadina appeared to be drunk or under the influence of drugs, police said.Officer Bueno tried to arrest Zadina but he resisted and the officer used his taser, according to the report. Zadina continued to struggle and the officer feared for his life, said the SDPD.Officer Bueno fired one round but missed Zadina. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego officials are offering a new location to help temporarily shelter migrants seeking asylum.The city says it has identified a new property to use as a shelter since its current temporary shelter doesn't have the occupancy for long-term sheltering, in a letter to California's Office of Emergency Services."The county recently vacated the Camp Barrett youth correctional facility in Alpine. The facility is already classified for residential occupancy and therefore does not require significant alteration to be used as a shelter," Robert Vacchi, deputy chief operating officer of San Diego's Neighborhood Services, wrote.RELATED: Exclusive look inside San Diego shelter for migrant asylum seekersCamp Barrett was closed in October following years of steadily decreasing populations at the county's in-custody facilities, according to the county. The remaining population was relocated to a Urban Camp facility in Kearny Mesa. Vacchi writes the property could be leased to the state or third-party on a temporary basis to use as a shelter for asylum-seeking migrants.The Alliance Healthcare Foundation has agreed to fund the operation of a facility, according to Vacchi, and the city has been in talks with the agency to secure shelter operations.The city is facing a Feb. 4 deadline to vacate the current shelter being used for migrant asylum seekers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County leaders Monday announced proposals that would crack down on vaping amid vaping-related illness and death throughout the U.S. At the Monday news conference, County Supervisors Dianne Jacob and Nathan Fletcher proposed a ban on the sale and distribution of flavored tobacco products and e-cigarettes. The recommendations will come to go to the board on October 15 and, if the board follows up with approval, the rules would take effect in the county’s unincorporated area. “Vaping-related illnesses are a grave concern and we must take local action to address this fast-growing public health crisis,” said Jacob, chairwoman of the Board of Supervisors.“Teenagers and young adults have been the hardest hit, and we must stand up to vaping manufacturers that are preying on them for profit.”So far across the U.S., there have been more than 800 confirmed illnesses tied to vaping and 13 deaths. The news conference comes after health officials around the country advise people to refrain from vaping as investigations into the cause of the illnesses and deaths continue. “E-cigarettes, and in particular the flavored products, are erasing years of progress in reducing teens’ use of tobacco and nicotine,” said Supervisor Fletcher.In San Diego County, there have been 22 confirmed probable vaping-related illness cases.
