SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Unified School Board Trustee is moving forward with a possible settlement over accusations of date-rape and other sexual advances.Kevin Beiser is facing accusations of date-rape, groping, and other sexual advances, brought forth by four men, including his former political consultant and former campaign manager. Beiser has denied all allegations since they surfaced in March.The settlement could indicate a preference to not allow a jury to decide whether Beiser is innocent of the accusations, according to political analyst John Dadian."The oldest rule in the book is if you go to trial, even if you are innocent, you never know what jury is going to do. That's exactly why people do settle," Dadian said.The victims' attorney told 10News he could not comment on the case to the media as part of the agreement. In March, Beiser was placed on leave from his teaching position in Chula Vista. The San Diego County Democratic Party has asked for Beiser to resign from the school board.Despite the scandal, Beiser has announced that he will be running for San Diego City Council next year as well. 1135

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An elderly Army veteran is warning others after he was brutally attacked while riding his mobility scooter in North Park.Around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 81-year-old Phil Severns was headed to a grocery store on the scooter when it happened."I just felt a sharp blow on the right side of my head. It almost knocked me out ... My glasses came off and were broken,  and my head hurt terribly," said Severns.Severns says he turned around and saw two concerned women who described his attacker. He looked and saw a man on the run a block away, described as a black man in his mid-20s with long hair, a lean build, and blue shirt and shorts.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodAt that moment, Severns says he kept thinking that he had to find out who did it. Severns decided to go after him, following him into a nearby CVS Pharmacy parking lot, where he found the man swinging a sock that appeared to be filled with rocks."Confronted him and asked him why he hit me," said Severns.The answer? A claim that Severns had hit him first, which Severns calls untrue. Before the man took off, there was more odd behavior.    "Just walking in circles and waving that sock," said Severns.It appears he wasn't done. Across the street at Walgreens, managers tell 10News they believe the same homeless man punched a clerk an hour later, the second such altercation with the man in the past year. It's a revelation that makes Severns more fearful."He's dangerous and acting crazy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego woman is searching for the hero who saved her from drowning after a cliff dive at Sunset Cliffs.“I think the ocean really taught me a lesson that day. It really did,” Justice Arreguin said.It happened a week ago Sunday.Arreguin was with some friends when she jumped off the cliff into the water. The first jump was fine, she said. But when she jumped the second time, it almost killed her.The big waves pulled her under and tossed her around. She couldn't breathe.“Then this guy he just popped out of nowhere and he was like 'you have to stay calm. Try to stay calm,'" Arreguin said. "And so I did and after a while, he jumped in the water when it was safe."The man pulled justice out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Activists with 'March Without Borders' are ready to welcome migrants from Central America heading to the United States with the migrant caravan.The supporters began an eight-day march from Los Angeles on April 22 and plan to meet the migrants at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Sunday.On Saturday they marched throughout San Diego, beginning from Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park and ending in Chicano Park. Migrants are expected to ask for asylum at the San Ysidro Port of Entry sometime Sunday morning. 546
