MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — One of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd is asking to have his case dismissed.An attorney for Thomas Lane said in court papers that the case against his client should be dismissed for lack of probable cause.As part of his court filing, attorney Earl Gray filed transcripts from body camera footage recorded by Lane's camera and the camera of his partner.The transcripts, obtained by the Star Tribune and New York Times, show that Floyd begged officers not to shoot him during the initial encounter and later pleaded for them not to place him in the back of the squad car because he was claustrophobic and had just had COVID-19.At one point, Floyd said “I can’t believe this. I can’t believe this. Mom, I love you. Tell my kids I love them. I’m dead,” according to the transcripts.The transcripts say former officer Derek Chauvin then told Floyd he was under arrest and that he was “doing a lot of talking, man.”That’s when Gray says Lane asked twice if the officers should turn Floyd on his side, but Chauvin said no and used his knee to pin Floyd to the ground.Chauvin then knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly eight minutes, which was caught on video and has now been seen by people across the world. Floyd lost consciousness and was later pronounced dead.Gray also filed a transcript of Lane's interview with state investigators.Lane is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and manslaughter, as are former officers J. Multiple reports of illnesses have prompted a Chipotle location near Columbus, Ohio to close on Monday, both Reuters and the Columbus Dispatch reported. The Columbus Dispatch reported that a dozen customers claimed to have gotten sick after eating at the location over the weekend. The Dispatch reported that the location was last inspected on Thursday by the health department, and had two critical violations - one was for beans that were not held at a high enough temperature, and the other was for cut lettuce that was not properly cooled after preparation. The Dispatch said that these violations were corrected on the same day. “We acted quickly and closed this single restaurant out of an abundance of caution and we are working with the local health officials to reopen this restaurant as soon as possible,” a Chipotle spokeswoman said in a statement to Reuters.The Dispatch reported this location should reopen on Tuesday. In 2015, hundreds of customers were sickened across the country after eating at Chipotle. The wave of illnesses likely contributed to a decrease in business, prompting the company to wage a public campaign on food safety.  1207

MILWAUKEE -- Six cars were damaged Friday when light poles fell across traffic lanes on I-43 near Milwaukee.According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a red pick-up truck heading northbound hit both of the light poles in the median just before 3:30 p.m. A witness at a law firm off Hampton Avenue said she saw the truck drive up onto the median and hit one pole, before continuing on to hit a second. "Unfortunately one of them kind of struck the side of the car, put a hole in the door, took a mirror out," said Jim Lovering, whose daughter called him after swerving to avoid the two poles.Lovering's 7-month-old grandson was also in the car. "Just missed the windshield, which was a blessing," said Lovering. The camera caught deputies taking away the driver of the red truck in handcuffs. Authorities have not yet released any information confirming an arrest, or possible charges. The accident caused backups for miles during rush hour, as crews worked to remove the poles from the roadway. No one in any of the cars was injured. "It was just nice that she had the space to maneuver and without hitting anybody else or causing any further damage," said Lovering. "It could be potentially you know a serious accident. Thank God it didn't happen."  1341

MILWAUKEE — Christopher R. Ward has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of 14-year-old Jada Wright. Police responded to the scene late last Wednesday night at their home on the city's northwest side. According to police, Jada has cerebral palsy, and Ward was her personal care worker. Initially, the 18-year-old defendant reported to police that Jada had complications with her feeding earlier that night. He said was not involved in her death, and claimed she had a history of injuring herself.Jada's school physical therapist said she never saw Jada injure herself. She also said Jada was missing from school for a month.Ward was taken into custody after an autopsy revealed blunt force trauma to her abdomen.After further questioning, Ward admitted he had become frustrated with the girl while trying to feed her through her feeding tube. She had maneuvered her tube out of her stomach, frustrating him further. In response, he punched her in the stomach. Ward reconnected her tube and left the room. Upon returning, he saw she had vomited on herself, and did not seek additional care for her or tell first responders about his actions.    1207
