If you have any old Levi jeans lying around and don't want them anymore, Levi's will take them back. This week, the clothing company launched a denim buyback program through its recommerce website Levi's Secondhand. The way it works is you drop off used Levi’s jeans and denim jackets at participating stores and you'll receive a gift card in exchange.Your items will then be professionally cleaned and then listed on the Secondhand website, "keeping garments in use and out of landfills," Levi's stated on its website.According to Vogue, some of the clothing will be handpicked vintage items, but most will come directly from consumers. 644
IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - 40 undocumented immigrants were arrested at two human smuggling houses in South San Diego County Monday, according to Customs and Border Protection officials.Border Patrol agents received information Monday afternoon that immigrants were being housed at the Serenaded apartments on Elder Ave. in Imperial Beach.Upon entry into a unit, agents found 22 Mexican nationals hiding inside, officials said. A second search led to the discovery of 18 more immigrants.Three dozen men between 16 and 49 years old and four women, ages 24 to 46, were taken into custody. One of the men is a previously deported felon with convictions for domestic violence, agents said.“Identifying and dismantling smuggling organizations is our top priority,” said Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott. “These organizations cannot be allowed to operate with impunity inside of our communities.” 909
I just found out the @USPS is sending this postcard to every household and PO Box in the nation. For states like Colorado where we send ballots to all voters, the information is not just confusing, it’s WRONG. (Thread) pic.twitter.com/RoTTeJRJVl— Jena Griswold (@JenaGriswold) September 12, 2020 303
IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. – A former United States border patrol agent says he nearly lost his arm in 2010 after training in Silver Strand Waters in southern California.Joshua Willey says he contracted flesh-eating bacteria.“I just remember my arm was extremely swollen like I wanna say the size of a volleyball maybe, “ Willey said. “My family and I were told that I might have to have my arm amputated and that was hard to hear.”Willey joined the group, “Citizens against Sewage” Friday afternoon to demand action against the ongoing problem.President Trump is scheduled to visit San Diego next week to look at the border wall prototypes, and the group wants him to take a tour of the Tijuana River Valley and view the extensive sewage issues."Citizens against Sewage" also called for the commissioner of the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) to resign or be reassigned for what they claim is a lack of action on the matter:IBWC sent the following statement to Scripps station KGTV in San Diego:"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Agent and his family. We have successfully pressed Mexico into taking emergency actions and that as a result fugitive illicit discharges are being intercepted.Mexico has told us and we are verifying that they are indeed taking steps to stop sewage from crossing the border. Commissioner Drusina will work until otherwise notified by the Administration." 1452
