VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside man convicted of abusing his neighbors' dogs, including gouging out the eye of a Siberian Husky, was sentenced to nearly 10 years in custody Friday.Jurors last summer found 37-year-old David C. The dog has never been found and is presumed dead.Police found a small amount of blood in Herbert's car and on a baseball bat he owned.Herbert, who represented himself at trial, testified that Lala jumped in his car and he was about to take her to a shelter when she jumped out and ran off. 1580

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A famous horse jockey known for winning the Kentucky Derby as well as races in Del Mar has been charged with domestic violence. Patrick Valenzuela was charged Wednesday with domestic violence and several other related charges. In October of 2018, Valenzuela pleaded guilty to a separate domestic abuse charge, admitting to hitting his girlfriend at a restaurant in Carlsbad. Prosecutors added that he grabbed his girlfriend’s cellphone and hit her face. They also said he chased her to her car and beat on her window and that she was scared to let him into the vehicle. After pleading guilty, Valenzuela was given three years probation and ordered to a domestic violence recovery program. Valenzuela is scheduled back in court on March 22. 926

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has made it easier for religious schools to obtain public funds, upholding a Montana scholarship program that allows state tax credits for private schooling. The court’s 5-4 ruling, with conservatives in the majority, came Tuesday in a dispute over a Montana scholarship program for private K-12 education that also makes donors eligible for up to 0 in state tax credits. Montana's highest court had struck down the tax credit as a violation of the state constitution’s ban on state aid to religious schools. WARNING: Some might find the video disturbing due to content and languageDELRAY BEACH, Fla.-- Delray Beach, Florida police officers responded to a call Saturday of a woman and children standing on a roof. When they got there, they say they found a 23-year-old woman who was hallucinating and two small children on the garage ledge on a townhouse. Officer Rob Addea got under the window, ready to catch a child or the woman if necessary, police said.“Just get the kids back inside,” Addea said.Two other officers went upstairs and out a window to the ledge and one grabbed the children's arms while the other tried to reason with the woman, police said.Police eventually were able to rescue all of them.Body camera video recorded the actions of the officers. The woman has been committed to a mental health facility under the Baker Act and might face criminal charges, police said.The Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating and the children are in their custody.  1032
