SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Video shows a brutal fight outside a Pacific Beach bar and restaurant that sent a bouncer to the hospital with critical injuries. The assault happened at about 9:20 p.m. at the Firehouse, 722 Grand Ave., according to San Diego Police. Four men tried to get into the restaurant through a side entrance but the main bouncer told them to use the main door, officers said. One of the men picked up a metal crowd barrier stanchion pole and struck the bouncer over the head, said police. The bouncer suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed. Officers said he is currently in critical but stable condition in the hospital. After the pole strike, the three other men in the group began fighting with security staff members. One of the bouncers suffered a broken nose and the other two had bumps and bruises, police said. The man responsible for the pole attack is described as African-American, in his 30s, 6’0” tall, 250 pounds with a muscular build. He was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two people escaped uninjured after a sailboat crashed into an Ocean Beach jetty, before the vessel itself was crushed by high surf.The 25-foot long boat collided into the North Channel jetty in Ocean Beach with the two individuals on board, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Monica Mu?oz. San Diego Lifeguards used a personal water craft to reach the vessel and safely pull the two individuals after they were forced to jump from the boat. The boat was attempting to leave the jetty area when a large wave forced them to pull a U-turn. SAN DIEGO FORECAST: Wednesday's rains to strengthen heading into ThursdayWind caught the sails and instead sent the vessel back into the jetty, according to witnesses at the scene.Those two people were uninjured in the wreck though the sailboat was crushed by high surf and sunk within the channel's entrance, according to Mu?oz.The boat's owner is now responsible for making arrangements to tow the boat from the channel.RELATED: Where to get free sandbags to protect your home from floodingA storm system forecasted for San Diego County has brought high sets to local beaches Wednesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — While fall-like temperatures lingered around San Diego County for a few days, a heatwave is on the way.Above-average temperatures are expected throughout the week with a heat advisory in effect from 11 a.m. Tuesday through 5 p.m. Friday.With many people still working and learning from home, you may have noticed higher energy usage on your electricity bill.“We’re dealing with some unusual and extreme situations this year given the COVID-19 pandemic and also extreme temperatures,” said Jessica Packard, communications manager for San Diego Gas and Electric (SDGE). “Look at conserving energy when you can, I know that’s easier said than done.”She said the key to bringing down that SDG&E bill is to avoid energy usage between 4 and 9 p.m.This time spent working from home can also come in handy.“If you are home working, try to maybe run the dishwasher during your lunch hour when you normally wouldn’t because you’d be in the office,” she said.To help during this pandemic, SDG&E has suspended service disconnections for those who can’t afford to pay their utility bill. SDG&E is also offering flexible payment plans.Based on annual household income, people who qualify can also sign up for state and federal programs to get discounts on monthly energy bills.“Look at some of our customer programs and assistance options if you’re really struggling and want us to cater maybe something to help you get through this difficult time,” said Packard.The hot and dry conditions across the county also cause fire concerns to grow. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  Pacific Trails Middle School student Kevin Luo has been crowned the winner of the 2018 countywide spelling bee.The 8th grader won the bee at 12:30 p.m. after a grueling three and a half hours of spelling. This year's winning word was gradine, which is "a low step or ledge, especially one at the back of an altar."Last year's winner was also from Pacific Trails Middle School. Yash Hande advanced to the 90th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee.
