NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) -- Police in National City are searching for several suspects who reportedly robbed a jewelry store early Tuesday afternoon. According to police, three suspects entered the Eclipse Jewelry store just before 12:30 p.m. The suspects, only described as police as three black men, smashed three to six jewelry cases and got away with an unknown amount of jewelry. Police are looking into whether or not this incident is linked to a string of jewelry store robberies in late 2018 and early 2017. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of killing a nurse on a local highway as she drove to work earlier this month.Caitlyn Kaufman, 26, was shot and killed on Interstate 440 on Dec. 3 as she drove to her job at St. Thomas West Hospital. Her death shocked the city of Nashville and garnered national attention.On Friday morning, MNPD Chief John Drake announced that SWAT members took 21-year-old Devaunte L. Hill into custody earlier in the day without incident at Hill's East Nashville apartment. Hill has been charged with criminal homicide. MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (AP) — Two people were bitten by a coyote in two separate attacks on a Southern California trail on Saturday. A spokeswoman for the city of Mission Viejo in Orange County says a woman was jogging on the Jeronimo Open Space when a coyote bit her lower left calf, leaving four puncture wounds. A second person said they were bitten on the left ankle while they were on the trail around 6:30 a.m. Both went to the hospital for treatment. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey requested the help of Minnesota's National Guard Wednesday after false rumors of an officer-involved shooting in the city prompted rioting and looting.On Wednesday evening, Frey imposed a city-wide curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and asked for members of the National Guard in help patrolling his city's streets. Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz declared a state of emergency and activated 150 State Patrol troopers, according to the Star-Tribune.The chain of events that led to looting and rioting began when police spotted a homicide suspect near Nicollet Mall. As police closed in on the suspect, he pulled out a gun and shot himself.The man who died has not yet been identified.The Minneapolis Police released surveillance video from the incident within 90 minutes of the shooting. Video does not show officers firing weapons but shows them appearing on the scene seconds after the self-inflicted gunshot wound.However, the incident sparked rumors online that officers had shot and killed the man. Hours later, a group of protesters gathered at Nicollet Mall to call for justice.Though some in the crowd attempted to inform the others that police were not involved in the shooting, the protests nonetheless devolved into looting. A Nordstrom Rack and a Target in the area were among the stores hit."This is a tragic incident for all involved," said Frey. MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- A Wisconsin man is accused of driving across Milwaukee with the body of a man who had fatally overdosed in the passenger seat for 13 hours straight.The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday it has arrested the 34-year-old man in connection to the death of the victim, whose lifeless body was later found in the Allenton Marsh.The sheriff’s office says the suspect, whom they did not name, was last seen with the victim, 30-year-old Stephen Lombard, in the Village of Jackson on July 27.A missing persons investigation was launched with the assistance of the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigations.A several-month-long investigation eventually concluded that on the night of July 27, Lombard and the suspect were in Milwaukee using illegal narcotics.Investigators believe that at some time, Lombard stopped breathing while inside the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect did not seek medical aid, authorities say, and Lombard died from a probable drug overdose.The suspect then drove around Milwaukee with Lombard's body still in the passenger seat for the next 13 hours. During that time, the suspect used the victim's debit card at several locations, authorities say.Investigators believe the suspect then discarded Lombard’s body on July 28 in the Allenton Marsh, off CTH W, north of CTH S in the Town of Addison.That's where authorities found a body they believe to be Lombard's.DNA analysis will be required for positive identification.
